May 2-4, 2008: Pinball Wizard's Convention and Gameroom Show at Allentown Fairgrounds AgriPlex in Allentown, PA. A weekend of pinball fun. This is the 15th year of the show. May 16-18, 2008: Pin-A-Go-Go at Dixon Fairgrounds, 655 S. First St, in Dixon, California. The relaxed and fun pinball show of California, now in its second decade! As always, all proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Sacramento. This year - the show is revamped and better than ever! Over 100 pins set up, parts dealers, and an auction with multiple pinball machines and select parts. $15 entry Saturday, just $10 Friday or Sunday. Kids 12 and under - $5. Free parking.. May 31, 2008: Greater Toronto Area Tournament at 5359 Timberlea Blvd., Unit 14 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, 20 minutes west of Toronto. Now in the fourth season. Pinball tournament at Mike and Christine Hanley's The Church of The Silver Ball. Sign on the door says ''Howe Machine Company''. Doors open at noon for registration/practice. Qualifying starts at 1:00pm. 50+ games from Baffleball to Lord of The Rings. Qualifying round is one game on each of 10 different machines. Match play to follow. Best of 3 match play. Lose and you are done. Win and keep advancing. $20 Cdn entry fee. First place is $100, second place is $50. Pop and munchies provided. June 6-8, 2008: NW Pinball and Gameroom Show at Seattle Center in Seattle, Washington. Dozens of pinball machines from all eras will be setup for free play with paid admission. Play at your leisure or compete in an international flipper pinball association (IFPA) sanctioned tournament. Seminars and autograph sessions featuring pinball designers, raffles and mini-tournaments will highlight the festivities along with video games, jukeboxes and other gameroom toys. Whether you play everyday or you haven't played in 25 years please come, and bring the family. Pinball seminars with industry insiders, including Steve Ritchie. Raffles for great prizes. June 6-8, 2008: Stockholm Open at KTH in Stockholm, Sweden. This is an annual international pinball tournament and one of the six WPPR majors in the world. It is open to anyone with no requirements for skill or citizenship. This year, there are divisions for a players, classics, juniors and split flipper teams, as well as a couple of mini-tournaments. June 17-August 11, 2008: NYC Pinball League Season 2 at Amsterdam Billiard Club (11th St./4th Ave.) in New York, New York. 2 new machines, $500 in prize money. June 27-29, 2008: Pin Maine-ia: The New England Pinball Championship at 80 New County Road in Saco, Maine. This is the 2nd annual New England Pinball Championship, sponsored by The Boston Pinball Association. There will be between 30 and 40 solid state machines from classics to DMDs. This is a 3 day event, from Friday evening at 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The entry fee is $40.00 for all 3 days, and includes a T-shirt for pre-registration. It will be $45.00 at the door. Spectators are welcome and the fee is $10.00 per day or $15.00 for all 3 days. There will be a team pinball golf tournament Friday night, with plaques and 20% of the prize money for the winners. The main event is a non-elimination, individual player tournament and runs all day saturday, with trophies, plaques and 80% of the money to the winners. They will pay the first 3 places in both the A and B divisions, with the A division winner being crowned the 2008 New England Pinball Champion. Last years prize money totaled $1200.00, and the response was great. The expect a bigger turn out this year and have moved the event to a bigger facility. There will be plenty of room for players and pins and lots of parking on site. Food will be served throughout the event and side events are planned for Sunday. Players of all ages are welcome. August 14-17, 2008: PAPA 11: World Pinball Championships, in Scott Township, near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is the leading competitive pinball event in the world. Players of all skill levels are welcome. There will be several divisions of play and a guaranteed prize package. The new World Pinball Champion will receive a cash prize. October 1-5, 2008: Pinball Expo 2008 at the Westin Chicago North Shore, 601 N. Milwaukee Ave, Wheeling (Chicago), Illinois. This is the big show every year and this will be the 24th annual show. Please note the new location! This show puts emphasis on the collector and enthusiast and usually includes a factory tour, auction, designer/artist/author autograph session, seminars, parts, machines, and other pinball-related merchandise. October 3-5, 2008: 2nd Annual Pacific Pinball Exposition at Marin Civic Center Exhibition Hall in San Rafael (SF Bay area), California. Features hundreds of vintage machines and amusement devices from the 1930s to 2008 highlighting their historical and cultural significance and honoring their impact on America. With an emphasis on vintage machines, it has a smorgasbord of rare games and a healthy stable of modern pins that are all ready for play. The exhibition will feature exhibits on the history of pinball, the science and physics of pinball, pinball art and the evolution of the game and its mechanisms. Special presentations will be offered on the artists and the process of screening and designing the artwork, circuitry design and logic, and, of course, the secrets of pinball wizardry, all in the beautiful setting of the world famous Marin Civic Center in the San Francisco Bay area. Fun tournaments and WPR sanctioned tourneys as well. Proceeds from this event go to the Neptune Beach Amusement Museum, a 501 C 3 non profit focused on creating a museum for pinball and amusement machines.
