Many laboratory tests can be performed right at the hospital, providing rapid results of lab tests.  Blood work can be done just prior to surgery, and the results will be available within 30 minutes so the doctor can evaluate which anesthesia is the safest to use.

Other in-hospital lab work can evaluate diabetic animals, look for parasites, and confirm diseases such as parvo virus, leukemia, or heartworm.  The laboratory is an integral part in helping the veterinarians evaluate thoroughly the health of their patients.
