Here are several others that don't fit into either of the previous categories.
Pediocactus or the Mountain Cactus is one hardy little cactus which grows alone or in small groups. It not only does quite well in cold temperatures on windy, snow covered slopes, but can live as high as 3048 meters (10,000 feet). If there is plenty of moisture it will plump right out, and in dry conditions it will shrink until you barely notice it. It is one of my earliest bloomers, just after the snow melts in early spring.
