Filmmaker Showdown
Filmmakers bust butt at TWSSF; Jill Adler
says, “Action!"
The crowd milled, drank, and anxiously awaited the action. Strung-out filmmakers were about to brandish their talent for a sellout, 500+ crowd of their peers, mentors and fellow ski bums. The new addition to the TELUS Whistler World Ski and Snowboard Festival, the inaugural Filmmakers Showdown Short Film competition, was on.

From Mining Silver to Olympic Gold
Ask
Park City locals why they live here in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains
and they’ll reply, “I came for the winters, but stayed
for the summers.” It’s flat-out gorgeous in this 1800’s
mining-town-turned-ski resort, host to many Olympic events in February
2002.
Golf Wasatch: 90 Holes of Paradise at 6,000
Feet
By Jill Adler
Heber Valley. Between the Wasatch and Uintah mountains, lies this captivating land of recreation. In winter, the sleepy area may seem to hibernate in the shadow of its boisterous ski neighbor - Park City - but as sure as the blades spike through the melting snow every spring, Heber and Midway are the places to be.

Outward Hound: Four Great Dog Toys
by Jill Adler
Upside: Custom toys for Fido.
Downside: Dogs know when you have toys.
Rating: ^^^^^ (5 out of 5 peaks)
Ideal User: Everyone within 10 feet of a dog.
Dog toys have come a long way from the days of used tennis balls,
warped Frisbees and old leather shoes. Canines are more than living
room ornaments, burglar alarms and second thoughts.

Two Coffee Table Books Celebrate Park City History, Glory
Deer Valley enthusiasts can read all about the resort’s past, present and future in the beautiful new book, Deer Valley: The Quest for Excellence by my friend and editor of Park City Magazine , Kristen Gould Case. The nine chapters cover the life experiences of DV founders Edgar and Polly Stern, Park City’s mining history and the town’s very first ski resort, Snow Park, which was located where Deer Valley Resort operates today.

It's a Jib World Afterall
Plus: a roundup of area terrain parks
Misty Flip, Mute Grab, Rodeo, jibbing. The language is as foreign to us old schoolers as the actual new school moves. The entire idea of throwing big air jumps with twists or sliding across a metal rail or funbox sounds largely intimidating especially when you watch the kids who-ve been hanging out at Brighton Resort since the early 90s.
