The Pastor came to call on her one afternoon early in the spring, and she welcomed him into her victorian parlor. She invited him to have a seat while she went into the kitchen to prepare a little tea. As he sat facing her old pump organ, he noticed a cut glass bowl sitting on top of it, filled with water. In the water floated, of all things, a condum. Imagine his shock & surprise. Imagine his curiosity!!!!!!!!! Surely Miss Bea had flipped or something.....But he certainly couldn`t mention the strange sight in her parlor. When she returned with tea & cookies, they began to chat. The pastor tried to stifel his curiosity about the bowl of water and it`s strange floater, but it soon got the better of him, and he could resist no longer. Miss Bea, he said, "I wonder if you would tell me about this",(pointing at the bowl). " Oh yes", she replied, "Isn`t it wonderful? I was walking downtown last fall & I found this little package. It said to put it on the organ and keep it wet, and it would prevent disease. And do you know, I think it`s working. I haven`t had a cold all winter !!!!!!!!!! I went very well. The only item that "threw me" was the allen head bolts in the back of the instrument cluster. I can not see them sue to the setup of the K1100LT fairing. Had to go by feel. Couldn't figure out why I could not get the "hex bolts" out with any socket. Finally, after about 45 min. tried allen wrenches. The whole job was started at 3:00p.m. and finished at 6:25 p.m. The system powered right up and the basic setup was a snap. Now, I've got to reread the detailed part of the manual to figure out how to set the tank volume to 8 gal. minus 5%. Like we teach the students at school read the directions first. I did read the entire booklet twice, concentrating on the install details. I used the book line by line and checked off each step as I went. I'm sure I figure out the tank volume. Just need to study the details. Thanks for your help, encouragement and suggestions. You really made it a "do"able. Thanks, Tom D. Mike, I discovered the same things you did today, except the road to Jeremy ranch. Where does that start from on the East canyon road? I never knew it was there. Is it passable on a GS? We went up the road out of Coalville today towards Mirror Lake road. We went about 25 miles & turned around & came back. I had been told that it did not go thru, but it looked like it did. That would be a nice loop up thru Mirror Lake hywy if it does go thru. DAN - - ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 May 1998 20:00:56 -0600 From: Michael Clark Subject: RE: BB: The weekend's rides. Dan, The road is most easily found by heading up Jeremy Ranch Road, past the golf course. Jeremy Ranch Road loops around the northern end of the golf course. At that loop, a dirt road heads off to the north. The dirt section is about 7 miles long, and generally follows the river. It's easily passable on a GS. In fact, Crit does it on his RS. The northern end of the road is harder to spot. It begins just as the east canyon road starts to level out and head toward the reservoir, passing to the north of a meadow. The dirt road begins at the west end of the meadow. The Mirror Lake Highway (Hwy 150) most certainly does go through, all the way to Evanston. It just probably doesn't go through right now. It's a seasonal road. I'm pretty sure the first 14 miles of the road are open all year, with various sections being open in stages as the spring progresses. Give it time and you'll have a chance to experience one of the prettier roads within easy reach of the Wastach front. Once you get to Evanston, you can head north toward Bear lake, then down Monte Cristo into Huntsville. We'll be riding up in that area for the June club breakfast. Hwy 150 is intersected here and there by several interesting dirt roads that are GS ride-able as well. - -- Mike > -----Original Message----- > From: DHallehall [SMTP:DHallehall@aol.com] > Sent: Sunday, May 17, 1998 6:10 PM > To: beehive-beemers@lists.xmission.com > Subject: Re: BB: The weekend's rides. > > Mike, I discovered the same things you did today, except the road to > Jeremy > ranch. It starts as a good dirt road and becomes a gravel road just before it reaches 150. The truck you saw probably did not come through from the East however. There are couple of refineries at the end of the paved section of the road so there is a bit of truck traffic up to the end of the paved section of the road, after that not much traffic. If you do want to go through to 150, go almost to the end of the pavement where the road makes a sharp right turn to the South and turn North on to the dirt road. There are several forks in the road and I don't believe they are sign posted as to destination. If you take the Easterly turnings you should eventually end up on a gravel road which takes you to 150. ________________________ mailto:kbertran@pragdata.com _______________________ Ken Bertran Salt Lake City, Utah USA AMA HSTA BMWMOA BMWRA IMTC AMA Rep 818 '98 VTR1000 '96 R1100RT '95 K1100RS '84 VF1100S '83 CB550SC 8080,0000,0000 It's the journey not the destination8080,0000,0000! _______________________ http://www.pragdata.com/mcycle ______________________ - - ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 May 1998 11:01:52 -0600 From: "Tom Deaver" Subject: Re: BB: Re: - Crit, Who is what's his name? Chris I'm open to suggestions and offers on the bike........it's been stored for over 10 years with some preservation......it's in " good " shape having never been dumped or in a wreck........and here in Arizona things are " naturally preserved " . It's white, with a 6 gal touring tank, riser handlebars, and a Vetter fairing..........I believe I still have a set of saddle bags that came with the machine when I bought it.........oh, it has an after market center stand.......... It has a standard seat but the vinyl is dried out from lack of use I believe it has something in the nature of 16K original miles........hardly used for a BMW....... I haven't even started the thing in 10 years............still has the same battery in it when I put it up............ I have a BMW ( blue cover ) shop manual to go with it as well.........it comes in handy for maintence........ Can't think of much more to tell you right now but I'm sure you will have some other questions........ask away..... I don't remember how much pedestrian traffic costs though. 2. Summer hours (currently in effect) are every EVEN hour until 6pm if you are heading NORTH (Halls Crossing to Bullfrog Basin). It's every ODD hour until 7pm if you are heading SOUTH (Bullfrog Basin to Halls Crossing). Spring hours stop at 5pm, and Winter hours stop earlier than that (not positive, but I think it's 3pm). I don't remember the earliest departure though. I've always wanted to do this via the bike too, but I had my mother with me this trip, so I drove (she's visiting from Oregon). We went on the ferry on the way home from a long w/end through Colorado. The ultimate trip (though doubtful that it'd be possible in a single w/end) for me would be take Hwy 191 down through Moab, Monticello, and Blanding, a brief stint on the Bicentennial Hwy (Hwy 95) until I reach Hwy 276 for the ferry. Take the ferry across Lake Powell, and follow Hwy 95 North until Hwy 24. I'd take Hwy 24 across Capital Reef, and stay in Torrey for the night (nice hotels right there, unless I'd packed for camping). The next morning, I'd drop down Hwy 12 through Bryce Canyon until Hwy 89, then on down to Hwy 9, so I could go through Zion. Go up Hwy 15 until Cedar City, then take Hwy 148 through Cedar Breaks, and onto Hwy 143 to Hwy 89. Then, Hwy 89 all the way home. - - ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 May 1998 11:20:54 -0600 From: Michael Clark Subject: BB: RE: Lake Powell Ferry Michael, Get yourself a GS and there's an even better ride. South to Bluff. Check into the Recapture Lodge. A quick trip to Monument Valley and back along the Valley of the Gods road at sunset. The next morning, up Moki Dougway. A quick trip through Natural Bridges. West on Bicentenial Hwy. Drop down to the ferry. Cross the lake. Head up the Burr Trail to Boulder (spectacular road). Stay the night at the Boulder Mt. Lodge (spectacular lodge). Hwy. 12 to Bryce, then North on 89 home. - -- Mike > The ultimate trip (though doubtful that it'd be possible in a > single w/end) > for me would be take Hwy 191 down through Moab, Monticello, > and Blanding, a > brief stint on the Bicentennial Hwy (Hwy 95) until I reach > Hwy 276 for the > ferry.
