Ok, thanks!!!!!, I'll go and buy "forever"
On the Depeche Mode and The Cure thing, is very
interesting that many of us Cure fans like DM, but
even RSmith mentions DM as one of their "liked" bands,
and in a TV interview of DM in Mexico (it was
"violator" times) Dave Gahan mentions The Cure as one
of his favourites among others....

I've dealt with people like that... "It's not cool to like this band if you
like this other band..." I feel sorry for people that are so close minded
that they can't even enjoy other genres of music. Music is a wonderful
thing....there is so much talent out there! It just makes me happy... =)

Ooo... I hate that. I went to a performance of the Carmina Burana at the

terrible. People coughing, rustling pages of programs, having our seats
kicked from the people behind, swishy nylon clothing, and even talking
during a crucial moment!!!

Beatles and the Cure, they're my favorite band. 8--) I've seen them three
times in concert and it's always been so good. Can't wait to see them
again. I'm glad Robert introduced them to me on that concert long ago on
the Fourth of July in San Jose!

This is pure poetry. I laughed for awhile. It is perfect, thank you
blucadet3 do you connect?, "Just kidding ya!! Please dont flame me. Its a
joke. HAHAHAHa"
For a long time, Led Zep was my all-time favorite band. But then, I met a
girl... To me, LZ can be similar to The Cure. They both have otherworldly,
long instrumental sections in much of their music. I think that's why I
like them so much. They both have (had) the ability to create emotive music
for the listener. They can tell a story and set a mood for a song without
singing a word. And when the Roberts do finally sing, it often only adds to
the songs and not detracts.
Professor Vast mentioned, "Here's a bit of trivia... Porl and some of the
others used to play Zep covers back in the old days of The Cure (before he
left way in the beginning)." It would seem to me that, at least when Porl
was in The Cure, that there was a bit of a Led Zepplin influence running
through the band. If I remember correctly, Porl left in the early days
siting musical differences, and if I also remember correctly, one of Porl's
all time favorite albums is (was) Led Zepplin II. Not to say that the
instrumental portions of The Cure can be solely attributed to Led Zep,
Robert Smith can be a great songwriter on his own tuition. But there does
seem to be some correlation, at least, musically.

One of the neatest things (my girl-friend thought it was somewhat
blasphemous) was when Robert Plant sang 'Lullaby' with Porl Thompson on the
No Quarter tour!
