I thought for sure they would play Safety Dance but they skipped right over it. Is that weird or what? They are suppose to be playing every single music video they have. You would think they would have safety dance since they played, I like, Pop Goes the World, and Moonbeam. Luckily a friend of mine already had it. He also redid the sound so it sounds a lot better. If you have ever seen it before on MTV or the VH1 pop up video you know that sound was real bad. Below is a direct link to the music video. Please don't download the video below unless you own the Original Masters of the video including the extra footage of IVAN tripping over his own shoe laces dancing down the street. http://www.softcom.net/users/holdman/MWH-Safety_Dance.mpg -Richard ----- A side note They also did not play "Open Your Eyes" - I was hoping they would because I really love IVANS new music. I would even dare say I like his "SPELL" Album more than I like most of the Original MWH albums. It Rocks! I was very glad to see that IVAN did not continue the sound of the sideways album. I love the new synth sound he currently has and I love the up to beat synth version he did of Safety Dance (which is not available on any album). I can't wait until the next "IVAN" album comes out! Date: 21 Mar 2000 10:37:31 -0700 Nobody has been talking about the Men without Hats cover project much anymore but I figured this would be some good information for those that need it. I know we have been talking about what kind of format we should use to send files to the person that is going to be making these cds (WAVE, MP3, CD, Cassette tape superglued to a post card, etc.) I have come across a really neat audio compression format that is lossless, meaning you can compress the Audio File and Uncompress it and the quality will be the exact same, bit for bit, as the original. The URL for the program is http://www-ft.ee.tu-berlin.de/~liebchen/lpac.html On average it only compresses 1:2 but sending 25megs of data is easier than sending 50megs for those that may have a slow connection. I figured somebody on this list would be interested in this See ya! -Richard Holdman --- LPAC is a codec (coder / decoder) for lossless compression of digital audio files. "Lossless" means that any compressed file can be decompressed in a way it will be bit-wise identical with the original. This is the main advantage of LPAC compared to lossy formats like mp3 or realaudio. On the other hand, lossy codecs can achieve higher compression ratios. For example, mp3 at 128 kbit/s achieves a (fixed) compression ratio of 11, whereas LPAC's compression ratios range from 1.5 to 4, strongly depending on the audio material. Typically they are around 2 for pop music and 2.5 for classical music. This may not seem much, but remember you will get back every single bit, no matter how often you subsequently compress and decompress a file. It is true that general archivers (Zip, LZH, gzip) are lossless, too, but they often achieve nearly no compression on audio files. LPAC is your choice if you want to save disk space without any quality drawbacks introduced by lossy codecs like mp3. The LPAC file format (*.PAC) is designed to be compatible and lossless across different platforms and processors. There are versions of LPAC for Windows, Linux and Solaris. LPAC Archiver is the user interface of the LPAC codec for Win32 (Windows95/98/NT/2000). The codec itself is supplied as a DLL. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info hats" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email hats@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Men Without Hats discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?hats ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Daniele Rossi Subject: (hats) off topic: favour? Part of this may be that "Rhythm of Youth", "Folk of the 80s Part 3", and "Pop Goes the World" were all very much "soundtracks of my life" at the time as a junior high and high school student (as well as many of my friends), and that wasn't the case with "Adventures..." and "Sideways".
