Too bad the prices are too high. They have remixes of "Major Tom" and the funny thing was they listed Trans-X as an Italian band. Aren't they're from Montreal? They listed "I Got The Message" as progressive rock. Progressive rock? I always thought of "I Got The Message" as the song I'd cover if I was in the music industry today. Whatever became of the compilation album we were going to do? I read about the upcoming tribute from Uforia (by the way, I still love your fantastic page Claude!) and I hope it's good--what I mean is I hope the bands take the time to write up good quality covers and not just some gee-I-think-an-acoustic-version-would-be-easier-and-marketable-rush-job. I hope this hasn't been brought up before, but what kind of covers/remixes would everyone like to see on a tribute album? For me, I'd like to see a rock version of one of their electronic songs and vice versa. A symphonic (maybe opera?) version of "Sercurity (Everyone Feels Better With)". I don't know about "The Saftey Dance" because it's one of those songs that no one can cover successfully. It's one of those classic tracks that just can't be interpreted in a different way. I can picture Celine Dion singing "Pop Goes The World". Maybe in French. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Clip n' save! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Spasticks! Luxt recently covered this track on a compilation entitled 'Newer Wave 2.0' (released by 21st Circuitry Records). The lease on Jim Morrison's plot is due to expire in the next couple of years or so and it has already been emphatically expressed by the powers that be that his particular lease will *not* be renewed due to all of the problems its presence has caused with all the fans showing up and doing damage to it and the graves in the immediate vicinity. The school you are refering to is McGill University. That is where I met Ivan. Ivan's parents were teachers there, as was Pascal's father Jacques Languirand. A month ago I went to the Languirand's house for a television shoot and all the family was busy working on the website you mention. It is about the radio show of Jacques Languirand "Par quatre chemins". Pascal did plenty of music for his father's show... I might even be able to improve ROY live too. I was considering re doing Freeways CD. I have already re-EQed the Freeways remixes to sound as good as the euromix. I have also duplicated the old noise reduction used on the ROY demos, so they now sound as good as the 2fer, no static. Surprise..... Those of you that know anything about dehissing know that it can mess up the sound quality a bit. This is true. Therefore I don't want to replace the old CDs with my new ones. On the other hand, I have done each song many times (trial runs) with different settings. At this point, I can't hear any side effects on 6&7, and the hiss is completely removed. What I propose is that I send 1 or 2 listmembers a trial CD to compare to the original boots. Then they can tell the whole list if these new CDs are a good idea or not. First I have to do them though...... 6&7 are first on the list because they aren't even finished yet. Date: 30 Dec 1998 09:27:26 -0500 Hi, all. I'm not really new to the list--I've been monitoring for maybe a year. I've never posted, though. I just got back from Christmas vacation. I was in Toronto and Ottawa. I searched most record stores for older MWH stuff, but couldn't find anything except the latest Greatest Hits release. I have ROY and Folk of the 80's, but in cassette form--they're at least 15 or 16 years old and they're starting to wear. Anyone know where I can actually get the CD versions? I'm also interested in stuff older than the two cassettes I have, because I've never heard any of it. I downloaded the MP3 of Security, which I though was pretty hip, but I don't know what release it's from. Also, I haven't gotten any MWH since Pop Goes the World. I was finding that Ivan's newer stuff was a bit too produced or big. I started to lose my taste for it a bit. Anyone have an opinion about his latest work? Anyone also like The Fall? I'm thinking that early MWH and The Fall have some common thread in style, but I've not figured out what it is yet. Are most of you Canadian too?
