In their original 1987 publicity (when they pretended to be 18 year olds from Glasgow), they said that their backing singers were "a lovers rock trio" I think, when of course their backing singers were Cressida Jimy's to be wife and Mo. (Who was Mo where did she come from, where did she go? Mu knows). Not entirely on the same thread, but my pal Jimmy and I are doing covers of "Justified & Ancient" and "What Time is Love?" as raw, slow acoustic folky songs. Fun! We already did A Lou Reedish cover of "Say You'll Be There" by the Spice Girls - but that was more for camp value since they aren't respectable like The KLF. Anyway, just thought someone might find it amusing to at least try to imagine those songs that way. Cheers! The Artist: Dave Brubeck The Track: Take Five And now you understand the name of the KLF's track. The name of the original track is a play on the fact that the time signature of the song is "in five" (count the beats). It was pretty weird for a rap act at the time to sample and/or scratch to anything outside of a standard pop 4/4 time signature -- it's another case of the KLF breaking convention. I arrived there at about 1.15am and there were loads of people wandering around trying to find the place. 184 Brixton Road was an empty house, at least there was certainly no-one in. On searching on Yahoo for the Butterfly rooms, the nearest I could find were the Butterfly Studios which were on the BIG LIFE website, suspicious hey (especially as the address was 184, Brixton Road)! LOOKAHEAD (CD by Lunhare) This compilation is all about recycling old records. Not an entirely new concept but hey who says we can't recycle an old but good idea? Everything is here, from noise (Hyware damages the old 78's) to collage like experiments, like Artificial Memory Trace to even techno inspired music (Metal Slime). A real surprise is the track from Macronympha's frontman Joseph Roemer. Not the usual power electronics, but a blend of hand-spun Wagner records and electronics. Other contributions include Steev Hise, Nomuzic, Tim Maloney, Maisie, Spiral and Kapotte Muziek. Old and new names meet. The cover bytheway is an outstanding rip-off of KLF's Chill Out with added elements. The recyclers recycled. Oh, god - don't tell me you *believe* anything Craig Kilborn says - he was born with his tongue attached to his cheek. He's brilliant, but lies constantly on that show and basically does his best to confuse whatever guest might be on the show. If they live through his best attempts, he usually begins acting like he respects them in some manner. He's certainly not for everyone. Here we go: 1. Browsing through the Norton Virus Commander Virus List there's a virus called 'KLF' in there. Will that 'Fuck the Millenium' after all? 2. Since the company who made the graphics for A:WTIL is the same company who designed the LAST advertisement for the Amiga 1200 from Commodore (the big wooden box being shipped onto a huge sea-ship), would Cauty and Drummond be the ones who Fucked the Amiga (well, it's fucked certainly!) to be able to Fuck the Millenium via a PC virus (see point 1 above) as they didn't know how to code an Amiga virus too? And... in conclusion: Would the fact that this Orb & KLF party was cancelled maybe be related to the fact that Gateway 2000 will ship new Amigas in 2000 after all? In other words: Maybe Cauty & Drummond were just too busy coding an KLF Amiga virus after all and had to cancel this party, 'Fucking the Party' in one go also. So, to summerise: K2 Plant Hire was set up when they decided to fuck the millenium, yes? then, after several artists impressions of the people's pyramid were shown on there, and several stats for earth moving equipment (did anyone get those, btw), the site was shut down... we assume that whatever has been happening since then and now is the bridge burning. during all this bridge burning, Jimi Cauty has undertaken several remixing projects. the bridge burning was scheduled to end today (mid-summers day) and also today, the Hawkwind remix is released (at least i assume that's why it was mentioned on C4 teletext). And, we've seem the official statement on the feedback site, telling us how jimi cauty is now far too busy to be doing any remixes, so presumably the silver machine remix is the last one. i presume bill and jimi took the time off to do their own things and are now back in collaboration and millenium fucking is underway. which'll be nice :) -- --- "The truths we deal in are far greater than these.. ...lies" - The K Foundation illitrate Publicashions Lymatid - Wyrd Stuff 4 Weird People - illitrate@breathemail.net - illitrate@onet.co.uk - - http://home.onet.co.uk/~illitrate/ - # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Cheryl D Subject: (klf) TESTING Date: 17 Jun 1999 01:32:01 +0100 just testing message filters. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Cheryl D Subject: (klf) test Date: 17 Jun 1999 01:39:59 +0100 tesing again - sorry # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: mumu@postmaster.co.uk Subject: (klf) Thanks oyvind.kallstad, The Eagle Has Landed !!!!!! KLF/K Foundation man Jimmy Cauty has remixed Hawkwind's classic 1972 hit single 'Silver Machine' and its set for release later this summer. Promos of the 'Scourge Of The Earth' remix have already been circulated to DJs and clubs which builds the classic space metal track into a trance track. The K Foundation also feature on the cover of Confusion Incorporated - A Collection Of Lies Hoaxes & Hidden Truths by author and prankster Stewart Home, just published by Codex books priced '7.95. According to Home, his article on the K Foundation that appeared in The Big Issue in 1997, claiming that Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty kidnapped him and showed him an array of weapons, later resulted in their arrest by by Devon and Cornwall police. He also claims that the KLF are performing again and will do anything to raise enough money to purchase Stonehenge from English Heritage and use it for ritual purposes. No release date has been set for the Hawkwind single. You can order Stewart Home's book online from Codex website. It claimed that Bill was just finishing off writing some short stories to publicise the new Museum of Pop in Sheffield and Jimmy was finishing off his remixes (Hawkwind I expect). It also ridiculed those who claimed there was a KLF - KLA connection. There was nothing in there about future events, but it seems the British music press also think this winding down of personal projects is signifying a comeback. Does anyone know what the heck "2987" is? Is it available? Where can I find it? Is it any good? And is it actually the KLF?(I doubt it) And what are the approx. street value for mint condition vinyl pressings of "Shag Shag Shag" and "Who Killed the Jams". I don't think I would ever sell them but my dad and I have a little bet going on. They were awfully hard to find here in the states and I got them for a song. Any info would be appreciated. It is a cover version of the "Live At Trancentral" version, they are even doing the rap and are using their own "mumu" samples! It contains a club mix, a maxi and a single version.
