This is a McCartney / Wings remix related to Wingspan. Now recently two of these popped up on ebay and went for $500 each (I paid $18 with shipping from the UK, ha!) but the label stamps are different. Mine is in blue and contains the Wingspan hands logo and is stamped only on the A side with both track titles. The ones on ebay are more generic, do not contain the logo, and are stamped on both sides with the relevant track info. Now my question is for those who know about these things: since this was limited to 50 copies how likely is it that they were stamped this differently? I'd think they'd all be stamped the same. I'm thinking the ones up on ebay are bootlegs, due to the stamping differences, mine contains the logo and the proper matrix numbers (dont know if the ebay copies contian the matrixes), and that both ebay copies were sold by the same retailer. I also bought mine a month before they first showed up on ebay. Of course it's entirely possible more were pressed up later but apart from these three copies (and one other I saw on eil.com the same time as I found mine -- they wanted $250 haha!), no one I know has come across one. -paul # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Stuart Bruce Subject: (klf) KSTJ 12" with poster Date: 08 Aug 2001 16:59:56 +0100 (BST) How much do people on this list reckon that a copy of the "Kylie Said To Jason" 12", in excellent condition with a poster in perfect condition, would be worth? Sorry if I annoyed anyone, I was only being funny 'cos since I've joined the mailing list I've seen loads of these e-mails where people seem to think there is something dodgy about different things to do with The KLF (and other things totally unrelated to The KLF!) and there has usually been a quite simple explanation about it which has nothing to do with the original comment. Do you know what I've just realised is so strange, I just did a search for Zoo records to find out when Zoo was formed. According to the sites I've found Zoo was formed after Big In Japan in 1978, this is the same year as I was born, so that would mean that Zoo, like me, is 23 years old. It's so strange that this information has suddenly come to light about the Zoo logo looking like 23, 23 years after Zoo was formed. Miles you aren't Bill in disguise are you? Btw - where can I find a picture of the Zoo logo to check this amazing discovery out? I couldn't find a piccy on any of the websites about Zoo (except Tiny Zoo Records which was nothing to do with Bill!) # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "chris renwick" Subject: (klf) Zoo Records logo Date: 09 Aug 2001 22:04:05 +0100 i've had a pretty hefty search for the zoo logo myself. sadly without any luck. would appreciate a look if anyone's got one. by the way .. darren .. i thought the other guy's response to your previous message was well out of order and rather unnecessary. maybe he had a bad day then drank a barrel of cider before posting. still .. a bit off. chris renwick # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: John Subject: Re: (klf) The Other JAMs Date: 09 Aug 2001 22:46:49 +0100 happy consumer writes >If anyone could direct me to any books or resources about the JAMs, http://www.adherents.com/lit/Na_20.html Shea, Robert & Robert Anton Wilson. Itīs a quite old (and quite bad sounding) KLF mp3 collection which mislabels some mixes as well (the "benio dub" is in fact the "techno gate mix" of LTTT). Not really worth mentioning. IIRC, the guy offering copies knew one of the members of ENT and got the original off of him. That or someone who knew a member of ENT played him the cd. One or the other. You don't know much about The KLF do you? Luckily you come to the right place. The White Room was not The KLF's first CD. Here's some information:- 1987 - Bill Drummond & Jim Cauty get together and write an album called 1987 - What The F***'s Going On?, One song samples loads of Dancing Queen by Abba (without Abba's permission) so Abba threaten legal action. 1987 is withdrawn from the shelves, B&J go on a big hunt to Stockholm to find Abba and offer them an award (they don't find Abba, the award goes to a Stockholm prostitute). On the way back they stop off in a field to burn all remaining copies of 1987 (except some which they sold in The Guardian a few years later). Later they bring out 1987 - What The F***'s Going On - The Edits, which is the same as 1987 except the Dancing Queen samples have been removed and there is a description of how to re-create this with your own equipment. Then they start releasing some more albums and singles mainly under the title of The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu or The JAMMs like Who Killed The Jams, Kylie Said To Jason, etc, etc. They then team up with a 1968 Ford Galaxy (which they refer to as Ford Timelord), and rip loads of BBC samples to produce Doctorin' The Tardis. Also from this came Gary In The Tardis. Then comes The Best of The Jams aka The Timelords which features some of there early tracks on like All You Need Is Love, Candyman, Whitney Joins The Jams, and Doctorin The Tardis. After this they do a few more albums including Chill Out which is a mix of more BBC samples (they certainly got their money's worth out of the TV licence fee!). Then they release The White Room and some singles from the White Room (A sides mainly re-mixes) like 3 AM Eternal (featuring Ricardo Da Force who is also the rapper on N-Trance's DISCO and Stayin' Alive), Last Train To Trancentral, What Time Is Love?/America:What Time Is Love and Justified & Ancient (featuring the late Tammy Wynette). In 1992 they won the Brit Awards and did an absolute spectacular trick. During the Brit Awards when they performed they shot blanks into the audience but didn't tell anyone :). Then when it came for them to collect the award they sent someone on a motorbike to retrieve it, and at the after show party they dumped a dead sheep. After the Brits they deleted the entire KLF back catalogue and declared they had left the music industry. The other album that I think you may be referring to could be The Black Room which was suppossed to be the opposite of The White Room, a few years ago someone came up with The Black Room MP3 demos (which I have) and they sound appalling, it's more Metallica style than KLF (I think they're hoax). After deleting the back catalogue they got together to do some "art work". One of their creations was "Watch The KLF Burn a Million Quid", they went to the Isle of Jura in Scotland and burnt what they claim to be "1,000,000" pounds and put the ash into a suitcase. Also they produced an award for the winner of the best art piece award but they called it the worst art piece. Then in 1997 they released a single called "F*** The Millennium" under the name 2K or "The artists forever known as The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu" and played at The Barbican in London for one night only and launched a millennium crisis line. They also started a should we "F*** The Millennium" campaign in the Guardian, the result was Yes and plans were made on the K2 Plant Hire website to build a pyramid at Loch Ness with one brick for each person living in 2000. This idea never seemed to take off and the website http://www.k2planthire.ltd.uk seems to have ceased to exist. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Torsten Pattberg" Subject: (klf) Deep Shit Date: 25 Aug 2001 09:38:07 +0200 When comparing Lazlo's discography with that short one printed in Pete Robinson's "Justified & Ancient History" there is a difference with the Deep Shit record. "Best of" was the US version, and can still be found in shops, but it's missing several remixed instrumental tracks. "Few more" is a bit misleading. Other than Chill Out (a must have) and White Room there was What Time is Love Story -- a compilation of cover versions of WTIL. > Black Room which was suppossed to be the opposite of The White Room, a few > years ago someone came up with The Black Room MP3 demos (which I have) and > they sound appalling, it's more Metallica style than KLF (I think they're > hoax). The "demos" are Extreme Noise Terror's rehearsal tapes, and, from the interview which recently appeared on www.klf.de (i think they had this, not sure. body is low on caffine right now) a member of ENT confirmed that at least some of the tracks are from the album, tho misnamed. I'd be happy to do it if necessary? I can see this starting to piss people off that's all. On a more interesting note, we went up to Creamfields this weekend and had a superb time, spotted one KLF shirt other than mine. It was a very faded white long sleeve one, KLF Front, Pyramid back, the same type as mine but mine's not faded. Tried shouting out but couldn't get the blokes attention, anyone on the list? The main reason for going was to see Orbital (who were brilliant as ever) but we also saw loads of other DJ's and artists. But the best by far had to be the Avalanches who were doing a DJ set. They were playing such a wide variety of stuff and the tent was just a sea of smiling faces, but I couldn't believe my ears when they went from The Police to Doctorin The Tardis and the place erupted! Who would have thought you could play that at a Dance Festival these days and get away with it! It went down a storm. The anthem of the festival was "It Began In Afrika" by the Chemical Brothers, you be in any tent or walking past without hearing this fantastic tune, it's going to be huge. The Chems were DJ'ing directly after Orbital but they took too long to get going and everyone wanted to leave so I missed their set, walked past the tent about an hour or so in though and it was rocking! Date: 29 Aug 2001 00:17:15 +0200 Guys, what are you arguing about? Cut the bulls**t, please. I wanted to go to the Orbital gig a month ago here in Warsaw, Poland. The Hartnolls were supposed to play on MTV Polska first birthday. But they haven't, apparently they cancelled also a few other shows in Europe in that period. Instead Stereo MC's came and showed our stupified Polish audience the class. Most people here listen to German ***Kin' rave s**t - from Low Spirit Mayday kinda or similar - considering it techno music. Suprisingly the Stereo MC's concert in a middle size hall was pretty good - it didn't sound like a CD playback with live vocals at all!:-) Now you have seen Orbital live. I haven't. And I guess I won't have a chance to see them this year, and probably next either. Remember there are people who can't see their idols - or what so ever called favourite bands - because people intheir homecountries don't buy their music, or even know them at all. That's why the majors don't think of bringing Orbital, Fatboy Slim, Red Snapper... to Poland. Some ten people would come. Well, we will have Air tomorrow. On Sunday there is a Depeche Mode concert. But that's all. These acts are simply 'commercial'. They sell here. Poles have to wait few next years to have yet 'snobby' music live at home. And you don't like a single concert on one of many many festivals...:-) Hugs from Warsaw! M. ============= - Oh man! Look at that girl, right there! Goodness gracious! That girl's fine, man! Yeah, I'm in no doubt that it is full of samples, I was just saying that the current track that is now being played everywhere is by the Chems. I would like to hear this track Drumbeat, one thing I have found with sample based music, is the amount of times you hear a particular sample and like it so much you track down the original piece of music, and often end up buying it too. So sampling cant be all negative can it! Well, didnīt buy me an ABBA album yet... maybe I got to listen to "1987" far more regulary. ;-) As we are on ABBA now... anyone else ever listened to the DJ remix of "The Queen & I" ? I tracked this down at eBay. Itīs a Rhythm Stick release - not that good at all, quite simple. But it seems that it is the very first DJ remix ever done for a JAMS / KLF song. But it gets better. The whole mix samples parts of Queenīs "Bohemian Rhapsody". The complete intro, some samples here and there. And as most of you know, "Bohemian Rhapsody" took over the #1 spot in 1991 instead of the KLFīs "Justified & Ancient".
