(1) Hello everybody, Got some things I`d like to write about: #KLF at `SCHOOLDANCE` ( big Club/disco, once a month for the students) My friend was DJ-ing at this very popular event, the other times when there`s another DJ, all I can do is hope that the DJ `ve got some KLFrecs. But now I gave my friend these records to play: J & A, LTTT, FTM, WTIL & 3 a. m. As I knew he`d some of the recs. I wore my nicest KLFtshirt ( black, with BIG KLF at front and BIG `Why sheep` logo on the back, prints in white) under my `real shirt` to take off the `real shirt` when KLF was played. What a succes it was when KLF was played. First WTIL was played, I went up to the DJstage and took of my `real shirt`and started dancing ( real wild!) with a couple of girls on the stage, the FTMhouse version was played. The feeling of seeing( you get a really nice wiew from the stage) all the people dancing to a tune like that - I tell you man - ITS GREAT. Later on he also played LTTT. the best part of it was that my girlfriend wasn`t there. Knowing that the DJ would play KLF and me drink way too many beers on the before-school-dance-party (?), I knew that I probably would `FREAK OUT`when hearing KLF and beeing that drunk, and I didn`t want her to see that ( althuogh she knows about my KLFobsession). So I nicely told her that it would be VERY nice for me to go out with only my mates, so she didn`t go ( she lives in a bigger town than mine, so it wasn`t really hard for her to find something else to do). My apologies to people who thinks that this list is ONLY for spreading facts and gossip about KLF & releated, but I think thtt this night was really GREAT so I feelt like telling you anyway. I`ve got a whole list of things that I`ve planned to tell the list, but I never get the time to do it... Unforunately, due to the concussion he sustained when he flew down my stairs, and his rather dodgy past in russia he completely lost the plot when it got to Madrugada Eterna. The chanting started him off trying to pacify his god (even though he's an atheist!?!) and shortly afterwards he couldn't see or hear anyone in the house. He thought he was in an afghani warzone, and was fighting rebels to hold the position (technically my upstairs landing, but who's going to tell him that?) I wanted to hit him 'til he stopped shouting at me like I was a terrorist, but shouting at a black belt who thinks you want to kill him is a BAD idea. The best I could do to fix the damage done by Chill Out was to put Rubber Soul on and we all sang taxman at him, which confused him even more but he stopped trying to shoot us for a while. So, the lesson I learnt this weekend is: One of my friends is genuinely insane and downright dangerous, and he should never EVER be allowed to listen to Chill Out again, or come near my house for that matter. - - jtm # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info klf" in the message. # Postings must go to klf@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 02 Feb 1998 13:46:44 +0100 From: Andy Robinson Subject: (klf) Plant Hire Site Just to let you all know that there are 4 new artists impressions on the Plant Hire Site (and of course the new plant of the month) Is it just me or do those little stick figures on the new pictures look like Jimmy's style of drawing? - - andy R. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info klf" in the message. # Postings must go to klf@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Feb 1998 13:06:56 +0000 () From: "Christopher.D.Gilmour" Subject: (klf) Jonathan Creek There was this tramp chap on Saturday's episode of Jonathan Creek, on BBC1, he was some kind of begger/big isue seller type, but he looked suspiciously like Jimmy Cauty, with a beard and moustache as opposed to his usual stubble. In theory, yes, but if the DJ doesn't like them they end up in second hand record shops pretty quickly! I am a big Depeche mode fan, and rarely had the new releases in my hands less than a week before they were ofciccially released. > And how do you get em? Either get put on the DJ mailing lists, have a friend at the label concerned, or scour the second hand shops regularly. > I'm asking coz i'm a radio DJ (hip-hop) and i'd like to get promos. Phone some relevant labels and find out how you go about getting on their mailing lists - if you can prove you have an audience, they will want you to advertise their wares by playing the latest releases. > And, are promos very limited? It depends on the budget the record company puts into it - consult "The Manual" by the Timelords for more info :-) > Finally, are promos different version than the final ones?? Quite often, yes - or there are more versions on the promo (13 on a triple disc set for Duran Durans new single!), and the ones that the DJs like most get put on the final release, or the band decides they don't like a particular mix so it gets pulled. Sometimes the promo has less mixes, because the others didn't get to the pressing plant on time! Sometimes sample clearence is denied after the initial promos go out and the mix concerned gets pulled (ie Depeche Mode's Strangelove (freshground mix) which samples Cameo's Word Up). Sometimes the mixes are longer (Underworld's "Rowla" and one of the Orb's Depeche mode mixes are examples) but have to be trimmed to suit the UK's draconian rules on what constitutes a 'single' for chart purposes. - - andy R. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info klf" in the message. # Postings must go to klf@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Feb 1998 13:42:46 +0100 From: Andy Robinson Subject: Re: (klf) Crisis Site Updated Panayiotis A.
