But from what I've read of this reply I think someone may have asked "Is the Blue Room associated with the White Room?" here is my reply to that question (if that was the question) I think the White Room's title was nothing to do with the Blue Room in Area 51 and Jimmy and UFOrb. The White Room in this country (UK) usually refers to the nuthouse (place with white padded walls). I think there choice for the title is because of the line in America:What Time Is Love? which goes " pathetic, poetic. When this is done it calls for anesthetic. Get to. Step to. Let the MC. Coming in effect with King Boy D" Anesthetic being the main point here. Anesthetic knocks you out which is something you may do to someone who is in a white room (like what they did to that woman on terminator 2). So that is were they probably got the title "The White Room" from. Otherwise, tell me it's in the FAQ. Its not in the FAQ as far as I know. There have been previous discussions about the Black and White Rooms, mainly these have revolved around the fact that in 'Twin Peaks' there was a Black Lodge and a White Lodge too - I think we eventually decided that both came from numerous myths from human history about evil and good places, and how white has always been pure and good and black dark and sinister (c.f. hat colours of cowboys in old westerns). The White Room (and the White Lodge) is some mystical place that is difficult to find, let alone gain entrance to and involves some great quest to get to. The 'purer' your quest, the more likely you are to be allowed access. 'Pure' quests are those that involve random instinctive (pointless?) travel, traditionally on foot, but since Elvis, Kerouac and the whole road movie scenario it seems that road trips are allowed too. The white room may not be a physical place, it may be a state of mind (a 'higher plane') that is accessed by travelling. Interestingly Stewart Home writes about quests as well, but you get the impression he's sending up the concept somewhat. Also he says the travel has to be via trains, which is a particularly British thing, as opposed to the Americana of road trips. Oh and finally last time we had this thread someone said that the White Room was the name of the room that (Apollo?) NASA astronauts wait in (at the top of the tower?), before getting into their spacecraft. But I don't think that's relevant. The white room may not be a physical place, it may > be a state of mind (a 'higher plane') that is accessed by travelling. This is closer to what I believe. I have a friend who is into the whole numerology/tarot thing. He had just finished reading Illuminatus when I started getting into the KLF. When I picked up the book and started reading it I realized this is what he had been babbling on about. I gave him a tape of the White Room and a copy of the FAQ and he just absolutely went to town on the whole thing. I'm not into this stuff but from what I recall the color White refers to some higher level of transcendence (hmm, trance and dance). The T shape of the speakers probably refer to the letter Tao (pushing the memory banks here but it's close) which in the Jewish language means Heaven (or something close. refer back to higher level). He kept staring at the cover for some reason one night then got a mental surge and grabbed his graphic of the Tree of Life (search for it, it's all over the net). The cones of the speakers line up with the four key points of the tree which also happens to point to a higher level. Now before anyone dismisses this remember that B&J are into the whole illuminati thing and numerology and such so, really, this kinda all fits in. The only thing we couldnt figure out (and really haven't thought much about over the years) is the relevance of the missing cone on the speakers. Perhaps signifying an uncompleted journey. - -paul # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Nov 1998 19:45:24 +0100 From: "Attila \"BooyT\" Bujtas" Subject: (klf) Fnord ftp >To whom it may concern... > >When I try to DownLoad Burn The Beat from History OF The JAMS - directory, >it stops every time at 3919872 (of 6263247) bytes... Sorry that this may be slightly off topic but I was going to order a couple of CD's from America unfortunatly I'm not familiar with how to send money to the states from the UK can anyone help me out? I tried at the post office to get a money order but they said they don't do them anymore and the only hope I had was with the bank. The bank told me that the only place I'd be able to send money to the states from is the post office (as you can see I'm stuck in a loop!). # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Nov 1998 11:11:51 +1300 From: Michelle and Stuey Subject: Re: (klf) One more thing..... Seems great to me, but I'm not an expert. The only thing I've compared is the White Room OST, Whiggy's is better than Lars'. Of course Lars's does have numerous gaps in his collection, but I'm sure he will release an update CD in the future. But the convenience of having tracks on CD instead of having to download them, more than makes up for it. Plus Lars' includes some really really rare tracks, such as the unreleased Bad Wisdom soundtrack LP Cheers, Stuey # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Nov 1998 09:50:59 -0000 From: "Ewen Roberts" Subject: RE: (klf) Sending money to the states? The reason for the loop is that only some banks sell money orders, I've bought them from Barclays in the past.
