As to your question, stock KLR springs are underspring, mine changed over the course of a year and 5,000 miles. I kept increasing the preload. Then, one day, I took it for a somewhat challenging ride and dumped it three times in less than two miles. I realized that the cranking down on preload had taken all of the springs abilities away and I was essentially bouncing the entire bike off boulders...not good. Fred Hink can set you up with some nice springs which should correct the problem. But I suppose if you've got an Anaheim vs. a poblano that's not too bad to be advertising. You know, I hate cleaning the chain with chiles, you have to wear gloves or you will have a "red hot chile pepper" when you gotta hit the porta-potty. Just before harvest... take a nice romp and rip through a couple of chile fields. Cleans everything really nice. And if you're lucky you can roast the free chiles that get stuck in your bash plate, the header pipe should work very nicely for that. Check your six often though, a shotgun blast to the back hurts, so I've heard :) LaterZ Dash And Chris is correct, it is not a veggie technically. I had a buddy that had an RD200. He got it used around '75, so it may have been a year or two older, and I thought it had a kick start only, but that was definitely a period where some of my neurons were frequently on holiday. I had a '76 RD400, should say I survived it ;-}. It had an alternator and kick starter. Does it charge and start reliably? It has brushes, no? How many miles you got on that thing? I remember my friends being kind of fun, as it was light as hell, and had enough pep to get out of it's own way. My 400 had pipes (Basani), and K&N. It was verrrrrry fast for it's day. Low center of gravity, and low weight made the thing handle pretty well with the right tires (again, for that time period). I used to ride my 400 off-road quite a bit, and could get away with it because of the low CG and weight. Put over 90K miles on it . It did just run and run and run.... Sure was great when a few hundred dollars could buy so much fun. I think my friend paid US$3-400 for the 200, I paid US$600 for the 400. The 400's new price was about US$900 at the time . I am still interested in any one else that has seen such a beast (starter that charges), particularly if European. Many years ago I had a Thai business partner who invited my then wife and I to a dinner party she hosted. There were lots of fiery Thai finger foods that we enjoyed before sitting down to dinner. I excused myself before dinner was served to use the facilities. Most of us wash our hands AFTER going to the bathroom, but this was one occasion when i wish I had done it before. Rejoining my wife at the table I started to feel this growing burning pain on my "little guy". It was so bad I had to go back to the bathroom and find relief with cold water and soap.
