It appears there is coverage over all the student run stations in the UK via satellite. check out http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/users/jrt1003/radio/playlists/ for details of how you can tune in and listen on the web, radio, or satellite. Depending on what you are doing you will always have a favorite. Why just the other day my favorite drum synthesizer was the Mattel Synsonics. So here is my synthesizerific contribution to this insynthesizerful poll: Moog MG-1 during the night, Yamaha DX-7 as alarm clock, Alpha Syntauri (just kidding), some day when i get a Doepfer A-100 modular system (who am I kidding), and last but not least, the Casio MIDI Horn! and when i feel really minimalist - HeathKit IG-72 sine wave test tone audio generator. ok, so SYN THE SIZER, i tried to measure up, but there are so many different audio generation and augmentation devices that even categorically speaking it would be hard to choose a "favorite". why favorite, how about most useful, or worth the money paid for? So how about best analogue, best digital, best analogue sample-based, best algorithmic FM synthesis, best MIDI, best CV, best Modular, Best Portable, best PC based modular. Let's have all the categories, all the Brands, and have a magnisynthesizerficent award ceremony every year where we salute our instruments with honor and dignity they deserve by presenting them with the Golden 1/4" Plug Award (which probably, when enlarged will look like quite a penis with a coiled wire). we'll get the elite Moogs, Arps and Oberheims to give out awards to the young, strapping Kurzweils, Rolands, and E-mu's, and vice versa. they could even wear little synthesizer tuxedos. and live performances of demo's, i am melting!!! oh yeah, and that favorite synthesizer of mine -- i havn't gotten it yet, i'm just polluting the list because other than Tim Barr bashing nothing is happening. and Mr. Peder Livijn, at least i think you started this poll, i am not offending, the whole idea of synthesizer awards made me laught, so i thought may be someone else will find it funny as well.= =20 thank you lenny g ... 2 turntables & a saxophone ... but sometimes i prefer a Hammond B-3 w/ rotating Leslie.
