Whats going on???? -Jacob Nintendo was planning on calling the console "Ultra 64" in America, and simply Nintendo 64 in Japan, but they later decided to keep it Nintendo 64 for all territories. And about Final Fantasy, it was originally thought that Square would develop the 7th game in their popular Final Fantasy series for Nintendo 64. But Square shocked the world when they announced Final Fantasy VII would only appear for Sony's PlayStation, and not Nintendo 64. Not one line of code was done on an N64 version of the game, BTW... It looks like you were reading a really old, really out-dated videogames magazine. :) Tyler V. Also turn time limits off and put on the normal match mode with blood (realism) on. Also make sure the ways you want to win are on like TKO, Submission, and Pin. The fighting action is smooth, realistic, and a lot of fun. I especially like the various throws and the ability to counter a throw by responding within the 'throw meter' time. The practice mode is very cool, allowing you to practice various moves against a dummy, and also letting you practice defenses against attacks that you tell the dummy to perform on you. One more really cool aspect is the ability to earn new special moves by defeating the masters, and then saving them to your controller pack to use later. However, I must say that I hate the costumes. The characters just look really dorky. I'm almost embarassed to show this game to my PSX friends. They would snicker to no end. While the animations themselves are smooth, the characters could still use better texture mapping and/or more polygons. The 3D environment is very sparse, as are the 2D backgrounds. Overall, it's a good fighting game, but where is the killer fighting game that we've been waiting for ever since N64 came out? PSX has got Tekken 3 and Dead Or Alive right around the corner, and Fighter's Destiny is the best N64 has to offer? I'm so envious! Is there any fighting game to look forward to? GASP Nextdream looks promising, but doesn't look good enough to make me forget about Tekken 3 or DOA. Biofreaks doesn't count, since it is a little different than the fighting genre usually is.
