Nine tracks are listed but there are ten tracks on the disc. I'm hoping somebody in the Orb family can tell me what track ten is and who remixed it? I no longer have any old reviews of the disc that probably had the answer. For our UK brothers and sisters, have they changed the rules again regarding tracks on UK singles? I've picked up a couple recently that had four tracks. Doesn't that mean they don't qualify for the singles chart? Just curious. I too picked up this new Jarre CD and after listening to a few songs the only thing I could say to describe it is..."it has words!" Not what I usually expect from him (as opposed to the orb from whom I've come to expect just about anything). In truth, I haven't listened to the whole disk yet but so far I'm not offended, just surprised. Andrew "It's like something from another planet." I\'m ordering it! Ah, the wonderful Filas, you really can't go wrong with anything Mann/McSherry release. I would suggest anyone interested in great mixes order this cd for a couple of reasons: a) killer music and b) the Filas need the money. Not unlike the recently signed-on Andy Hughes word has it the Filas had to borrow money from their family to make their new CD. If you remember an earlier post of mine the Filas also sold the intro to a song of theirs for Qualcomm to use in an advert. So, I guess those, like me who hate to see their favorite music co opted can take a proactive stance and help the Filas by laying out the dosh for what I can almost guarantee will be a remix compilation comparable to Orb's "Auntie Aubrey" double disk set. My own question: Where is the Busta Rhymes remix???? Then again, the Brits *did* come up with, "It's funny that this turnip is shaped like a 'thingy,' because I have a 'thingy' that's shaped like a turnip!" Whatever happened to the millenial Blackadder episode that was going to be made? I really miss that show.... It is different here than probably anywhere else. If there are any similarities to other lands, let me know. I got there at 9:00, and the place was full, but it got fuller still. At 3:30, when the show ended, the place was all but empty, maybe only 15 people. That's not surprising, though, Chinese often start their day at 7:00 or earlier. Lx started off, probably around 11:30. Thomas stopped, after being asked twice, at 3:30. I should say that the Chinese are not particularly modern when it comes to music. The dj's and songs that get played are pretty run of the mill. So LX really shook up the crowd by throwing on some inconsistent beats (for lack of a better term), and drowning out the beat with something completely different for a few seconds. It was funny to watch almost everyone on the dance floor just stop...in confusion. Of course myself and a few others just kept on, knowing what was going on. However, Thomas just completely floored the crowd a little later, with just some crazy mixing. Thomas seemed a bit frustrated with the board, but it sounded good to me. Frankly, because of the way out stuff that they play, it is hard to hear a mistake, unless it's a comlete and utter one. Several discos here have dancing girls on staff, who go out and dance (if you can call it that, they are clearly not hired for their dancing ability) on the stage. They didn't come out right away, but later there's Thomas with 4 girls on the stage. The crowds here have a habit of making some sort of cheer, a who-who-who sound, up and down, a minor 3d I think. The girls began to elicit a call and response from the crowd. The look on Thomas' face was...priceless. I would guess 20% perturbed and 80% awestruck. One of the girls had taught herself to do the cheer backwards. She seemed quite thrilled at her ability. As for the music, the beginning was kinda like Orblivion mixed with Pomme Fritz, not the real thing, but those styles. There was one part that sounded like it might be a single, with a dusky female voice singing a sample with the word music in it. Later, they spun a lot of really fast stuff, meaning lots of 32nd and 64th notes. It was too busy for me, and the crowd too, I think. At the end Thomas played about 1/2 hour of chill out stuff, which was nice, with a sample of valley from Evil 39, i think. The only album cover I saw was a sky blue one with a blurry, indistinct yellow shape in the middle, kinda shaped like a cross. Anyone? In any case, when it was over, I asked Thomas and LX to sign Evil 39 for me, it was the only one I had on hand. Lx signed 'In Orb we trust Chinaaa LX' Thomas signed, 'Thanks for coming Thomas Fehlmann'. I was so tired I could barely think. I think I refered to Orbus Terrum as Plateau, and couldn't remember Orblivion. I mumbled some nonsense about how good the show was, and handed over a small present for the road. All in all, the show was great. It just makes me more eager to get the new album, and compare its sound to what I heard. Andrew __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
