From: Nigel Clark Subject: (orb) Asylum vid / new tracks Date: 01 Jun 1997 11:56:48 GMT The June issue of UK computer mag 'Connect' features a short (30 sec) clip of the Asylum vid on it's cover CD. They also note that on Jun 1st (today) the Orb's web site (www.orblivion.com) will feature 4 new tracks. I've checked the site and the new tracks are listed but not available yet. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info orb" in the message. # Postings must go to orb@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # Latest Orb info: http://www.theorb.com/orbulletins.html -- look here first! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Danjel van Tijn <6tdv@qlink.queensu.ca> Subject: (orb) Orbscure Trax for trade Date: 01 Jun 1997 13:29:33 -0400 I would like to trade my copy of Orbscure Trax. The total price for my copy came to about $35 cnd so the trade has to be fairly worthwhile. The biggest thing I am after is a good condition blue room boxset, the one with two cds (one of just blue room and the other of BR and towers of dub remixes). I may be way off deal but I would love to get an Orblivion wall clock. I can hardly believe this -- poor production on "U.F.Orb?" I think it's one of the most brilliantly-engineered albums ever. I can see how "Adventures..." can seem more 'ordinary' by comparison, 'cos the production is a lot simpler, less dynamic and 'blurred' than later stuff. But "U.F.Orb" and "Orbvs Terrarvm" both share that distant, slightly-blurry, film-like sheen that I love about their production and engineering. Sections of "Blue Room" and "Plateau" bear this out, IMO. Still, everyone has their take on what's best about the Orb -- it's great that they have so many good sides that we can sit around online and discuss which ones we like best.... ;-) Neil Hetrick nhetrick@idsonline.com # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info orb" in the message. # Postings must go to orb@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # Latest Orb info: http://www.theorb.com/orbulletins.html -- look here first! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: lysergic maximus Subject: (orb) uforb double disc Date: 01 Jun 1997 19:05:28 -0500 hey everyone... if anyone knows where i can pick up the double cd version of uforb with the blue room bonus disc, please drop me a line... cost isn't a real factor, i just gotta have that disc... hope to here from someone soon! -lysergic * Post Mortem Telepathy, the lysergic dream mailing list! to subscribe send mail to: majordomo@hollyfeld.org with the command 'subscribe pm-telepathy email@addy'!* The Lysergic Dream - The Dark Beyond The Stars the new full length release, available NOW!!!! http://idt.net/~lyserg19 for more info ***coming soon - the cult of the dying streetlamp*** # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info orb" in the message. # Postings must go to orb@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # Latest Orb info: http://www.theorb.com/orbulletins.html -- look here first! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Charles and Ian Subject: (orb) new tracks? I have to agree. Crack kills, you know. I'm resisting the urge to be really mean. Adventures BTU is a seminal, landmark album. Many albums out today are little more than footnotes to Adventures BTU. Even UFOrb doesn't have the cohesion that the first album has. Adventures is a rarity in that it's construction is thorough and total. And that there is a sense of desperation that's causing people to listen to ambient, techno, d + b, for whom it may actually not be their cup of tea. The record magnets seem to have a dreadful fear of reality, perhaps this is why they were hesitant to endorse the ambient , that people are splintering more to their own personal taste, and not all listen to the same kinds of music, still ambient, d + b, funk , jazz, the memphis blues, classical. It all has key structures and rhythm, they are experiments in sound. It's not about black, or blue or even green music. The more we mucisians can respond to new aural experimentation as an expression of creation, the more can be accomplished in sound, The Orb are simply master's of experimentation like Missing Foundation were are Psychic TV. But the Orb's energy is much cleaner and less egotistical.
