R&S 96105 Three track 12" 1) Hangar 84 (Carl Cox's W.W.Ultimatum mix) / 6.13 min 2) Hangar 84 (The Gods Must Be Crazy mix by System 7)/9.02 min 3) Hangar 84 (Live Mix- at The End London 7/2/96) / 7.17 min It's a regular techno release. The three mixes are made for the dancefloor. Heavy beats, the Cox mix got some distorted sounds on it and find it's way to the floor. The System 7 mix starts with an ambient touch to it, but after one minute the fast beats come in to it and made this also a very floor friendly mix. Fast beats, hi-hats and a simple synth. Their is not many of Hillage's guitar on both mixes. The live mix is recorded at The End, one of London's finest clubs at the moment. You can imagine this also hasn't anything ambient on it. IMHO not something special at all. In that nice booklet wich comes with Auntie Aubrey's mixes I read that Textures is Alex first mix CD. But what about the mix he made for MixMag Live? First this one appeared on cassette but it's also available on CD with the mix Mixmaster Morris made. Tracklisting: - - Stange Quotations - System 7 - - World Peace - Suns of Arga - - O.O.B.E. - The Orb (Pool mix) - - Blue Room - The Orb (Ambient demo at Mark Angelo's) Only four tracks, not very good mixing but it is a mix CD. Last year Alex mixed live on a Dutch radio station using unusual records like: - - Brian Eno - Always Returning - - Gary Glitter - Rock & Roll part II - - T Rex - Hot - - FFWD - Suess Wir Eine Nuss - - Killing Joke - War Dance - - Tape - Beatless - - FFWD - Drone - - Ce CE Rodgers - Join Hands - - Ten City - Whatever makes you - - Joe Smooth - Alright - - F. Knuckels - I Want your love - - Sueno Latino - D. May remix - - Remake Duo - Paperclip People - - Sueno Latino - Wignter Version - - Round on E - I'm your Brother - - Funky Green Days - High Up - - Basic Channe; - Quadrant Dub - - Iritation Steppers - High Rise - - Brian ENo - Always Returning A nice tape wich reflects more the mixing Alex do when he's out there to be a DJ. One of my best friends is one of the DJ's scheduled to appear at the Raleigh stop of the ENIT festival. When they cancelled out on him and he asked why (after the event was already selling briskly), according to him, the organisers began to complain about how difficult it was to book all the bands while they were simultaneously on tour all with different itineraries. My guess is that what's up on the Ticketmaster page as far as the ENIT festival goes is *all* that there's going to be, considering that there's only a couple of months before the season for outdoor concerts ends. That page can be reached eventually through Perry Farrell's webzine www.teeth.net (not com, that's a dentistry page). Anyone can confirm differently, I'll be pleasantly surprised. db ------------------------------ From: "Lazlo Nibble" Date: Sun, 4 Aug 1996 11:41:39 -0600 (MDT) Subject: Alex first mix CD?? > In that nice booklet wich comes with Auntie Aubrey's mixes I read that > Textures is Alex first mix CD. > > But what about the mix he made for MixMag Live? > First this one appeared on cassette but it's also available on CD with the > mix Mixmaster Morris made. I'm not aware of any legit CD release of the MixMag tape Alex and Morris did. There may be a bootleg, but Auntie Aubrey only exists because Alex got sick of seeing their remixes bootlegged to hell and gone, so it shouldn't come as any surprise that he doesn't consider a CD bootleg of his MixMag session to be his "first mix CD". > Is there anyone who had ever seen Mission 92 on CD or vinyl? If you want to subscribe something other than the account the mail is coming from, such as a local redistribution list, then append that address to the "subscribe" command; for example, to subscribe "local-orb": subscribe orb-digest local-orb@your.domain.net A non-digest (direct mail) version of this list is also available; to subscribe to that instead, replace all instances of "orb-digest" in the commands above with "orb". Back issues are available for anonymous FTP from ftp.xmission.com, in pub/lists/orb/archive. These are organized by date.
