Seeing as how i'll be in town that day, i was really excited about the whole thing. But...this can't possibly be true, right? oh god, be still my beating heart. And also, does anybody know of anything concrete going on in dc between the 11th and the 25th of this month? I'd appreciate any info anyone could give. Thanks so much. Val. p.s. anybody hear if Aphex is touring soon? If so, where and when? Date: 11 Jun 1995 14:07:21 -0300 Having seen much activity on this list lately. Anyway - does anyone know how the Are We Here? remix on the U.K. Tribal Gathering Compilation compares to the versions on the single? I'm not a big fan of the song mind you, but it sounds nicer than the one on Snivilisation. The above 2CD compilation is an import and wonderful at that. I really recommend it - it's fairly commercial with some big names, not underground, but it's quite decent and serves as a great sound source for those of us who couldn't cross the Atlantic for the Tribal Gathering in Oxfordshire on May6th. Here's a track listing for those interested: CD1: 1. Are We Here? (Who Are They?) ORBITAL 2. Voodoo People (Dust Brothers Mix) THE PRODIGY 3. Song For Life (Extended Version) LEFTFIELD 4. Spastik PLASTIKMAN 5. Infinite Mass FAITH DEPARTMENT 6. Every Time You Touch Me MOBY 7. Starship Universe C.J.BOLLAND 8. Crisis A Gwan BANDULU CD2: 1. Lagoon DAVE ANGEL 2. Her Jazz THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS 3. Mother Earth DUBTRIBE 4. Det 29-62 CARL COX 5. Heart (UK Mix) LOOP 8.2 6. Hypnotic Eastern Rhythm (live mix) SOUNDCLASH REPUBLIC 7. Violator (Acid Metamorphosis) TRANSMAKUS 8. Bug (live in Iceland) DRUM CLUB 9. Dark & Long (Dark Train Mix) UNDERWORLD Though more big names are on CD1, CD2 has a much better sound. No slow sounds here, and the remixes are decent (except for the remix of Voodoo People - ech, what was that?). Some may find the sounds a little too pop-dancey. - -James ====================================================================== James Tee _ // AMIGA Dalhousie University ab795@cfn.cs.dal.ca \X/ Orbital - "Remind" Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Homepage: http://www.cfn.cs.dal.ca/~ab795/Profile.html ====================================================================== W L ERA G GS SV IP H R ER HR BB SO David Cone 4 3 3.75 8 8 0 57.2 55 25 24 6 18 44 ====================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: David Tickle Subject: Glastonbury... Date: 13 Jun 1995 11:21:28 +0100 So, Orbital WILL play Glastonbury this year. Anyone know what night they play, and on what stage, though? They were origionally supposed to replace Leftfield, but have now apparently taken the "Special Guest" slot on the Saturday, before the Stone Roses(who might not play now, but I doubt you want to talk about them...). The Shamen have now (apparently) replaced Leftfield (fair swap....NOT). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Scottie (Mr Tickle)" Subject: New Member.. Or am I missing something? Anyway: apparently Orbital are to release a new single, Times Fly, which is the track that was on the ISDN session in March. It'll be backed with a fast version of Times Fly, a remix of Sad but True, and another new track, The Tranquilizer. In addition, there's one other new track (which they apparently played at Glastonbury) called P.E.T.R.O.L, which is the one for the Sony Playstation, which isn't on the single. All this is on the unofficial web page at the URL below (click on the purple button to get to "news"). All the rest was just rehashed versions of the old stuff. To be honest, I'm getting a bit bored of their set, having now seen them do the same thing 3 times in a year. Of course it's excellent, but I think it's time for something new. 'cos I missed the set as I couldnt drag myself out of the dance tent (due to a superb DJing set by Richie Hawtin). Also, I thought it would be packed after last years reviews, and that the lights would be naff as it was still light outside. I know, I know, I should have gone - all my mates said it was ace, possibly better than last year! Chris P.S. Does anyone know why Phil (or was it Paul) didnt do his DJ set in the dance tent? I presume he was too knackered after the night before.
