Yay ! I am sorry for all of you who had a bad New Year's Eve. Mine wasn't that brilliant either, but I'm not complaining. Uhh, the Orbital ICQ list is history for now. At least until I get re-settled with my new homepage [the www.seven.hr webserver is under a kick-ass firewall configured by my friend, Seven. But in the end, him & me both got locked out of the domain. Him because he switched companies and me because I am his friend. I finaly took the time (over the holidays) to use my powerfull ninja graphic & designer skills to actually make a homepage I am proud of having. Hi all, I haven't posted a few messages for a while. Anyway, here goes: 1) I Got the Nitrogen "Intoxica" LP - the new incarnation of Richard H Kirk aka Cabaret Voltaire - One of the Hartnoll's favourite artists. Bloody good, and well worth the pennies. 2) Has anyone in the UK seen the advert for the RAF? "There is hope.." with the slogan "Their country needs you". Is the music used a remix of Crystal Method's "Keep hope alive" ? Cheers. 3) Is the Crystal Method album any good? I only heard it a couple of times, and it sounded alright, apart from all the cringeworthy references to *gasp* illegal drugs. 4) I had a really good new year. Sorry. :-) 5) Spiritualized "Ladies and Gentlemen we are floating in space" - LP of the year? The NME seem to think so, and I was wondering if anyone else had heard it and how they rated it. BTW I have it and think it's excellent. 6) If any of you like really fast banging techno house stuff - the new Tony di Vit "Live in tokyo" album is excellent. It's a nice change from all those Mini$try/Cream "House Hits-by-numbers" compilations doing the rounds near Christmas. 7) Does anybody know any idiots guide to MIPS 2000 assembly webpages? - -- Tim W . email: tim@jlwynne.demon.co.uk . timothy.wynne@stud.umist.ac.uk . No clues about the concepts, but I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for Alison to do the vocals again (at least for some tracks). Her voice takes me so high, it's indescribable. - ----8+ADw------------------------------------------------------ For all the mp3 freaks out there... did you guys know you can rip the audio CD directly to mp3 ? Fraunhofer MPEG Layer 3 Producer installs the mp3 codec to Windows, and all you have to do is run the WinDAC 1.33, go under File / Select Wave Format and choose the MP3. This way WinDAC is gonna write mp3 files instead of large .wav's. And the best thing of all, WinDAC correctly shows time left for encoding... great stuff, I tell you. - ----8+ADw------------------------------------------------------ What does everyone think of Mixmag UK ? I held a copy in my own hands (I think it was January issue). Really liked what I saw, but I only had it like a minute and a half to browse through it. Should I go back to the store and buy it ? When i bought it i thought it was mediocre, then i came to love it, now it's just another album that brings back memories of driving (it's an excellent driving album) what i wanted to say was about the introey thing in Trip Like I Do (oh, yeah, i see the reference). when it goes "once more they will replenish themselves, change every day" (at least, that what it sounds like to me, although i think it should sound differently) then it goes "the power of their source : the crystal" and that's the bit that pisses me off. "the power of their source" should be "the source of their power", even tho it doesn't sound the same or as good. so that's the bit that irritates me, because "the power of their source" doesn't mean anything.
