The thinker may start from an awareness of the divine reality and then begin to speculate on the relationship of the nondivine to the divine; this position is commonly called acosmic pantheism. Conversely, the thinker may start from an apprehension of the full reality of finite, changing entities and give the name God to their all-inclusive totality; this is called cosmic pantheism. The most typical presentations of acosmic pantheism come from the Hindu tradition, the greatest philosophical exponent of which was the Indian philosopher Sankara (flourished 8th? century AD). The difficulties of acosmism are visible in his system: tendencies to deny the full reality of the changing finite, to deny the reality of evil, to deny the reality of freedom and chance, and to see individual personality as ultimately unreal. In Western thought, the Dutch philosopher Baruch Spinoza is the greatest exponent of a position that is almost unqualifiedly pantheistic. His view represents an important criticism of the "orthodox" view, that God's reality is somehow external to the reality of the world. In fact, simple equations of "God" and "world" are hard to find in the major writings in philosophy or theology. Usually qualifications abound to cope with such traditional problems as those of the one and the many, good and evil, necessity and accident, and permanence and change. A view recently termed pantheism has been espoused by some philosophers, including the American Charles Hartshorne, who seek to overcome at once the paradoxes of pantheism and of "classical" theism. I have a bottle of it made by Winsor & Newton called "Colorless Art Masking Fluid" ..but there are a lot of brands around. TIP: (1) Buy some cheap paintbrushes..put colored elastics as reminders that they are to be used for frisket only. (2) Always shake frisket well before using. (3) Never use by dipping your brush into the original container of frisket, always pour a little frisket into something else...because (4)..it will come off the brush much easier if you first dip the brush into dish detergent. Hi, Just had to let ya know I got satifaction on that EXCESSIVE phone call charge to Canada. It went up 3 managers, and the lady pulled the last 24 months of our phone records and checked them. Because I told her we had never called international, and had no clue this was an international call. So, then she told me it is true--NO international calls in at least 24 months! And therefore, because our business is so important to them, she would change the rate to the weekend rate of 10 cents per minute. I about fell off my chair!! I was going to ask if they would cut the bill in half! But, instead, it went all the way to a dime per minute!! I still can't hardly believe they would do that for me!! I am VERY happy with outcome of this problem. And believe me, we WILL be sure we know where we are calling from now on, FIRST!! She also told me the calls to England can't be done this way, yet. But, they do expect that to change any day now, as it has been in the works for sometime. SO... What a nice surprise. Glad I didn't get nasty with them! It worked out very nice. ttyl Maralee _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Mine isn't all that communicative, but I heard from it the other day after I said, "Body, how'd you like to go to the nine o'clock class in vigorous toning?" Clear as a bell my body said, "Listen, do it and you die." The way I look at it, if the kids are still alive when my husband comes home from work, then I've done my job.
