From: Kurt Grossman Date: 04 Feb 1998 17:05:30 -0500 I just received notification of Season 7 coming out this year. Anyone seeking Season 6 cards, I have 20 sets + 4 sets of chase "puffy" cards, and a set of the holograms (HG11, HG12). Also, the planned DS9/Voyager set has been changed. They have decided to alternate DS9 and Voyager each year, so this will be Voyager's year with autos, nothing else yet confirmed... There will be a contest for Season II (DeForest Kelley, Koenig and some repeats of crew, Shatner in the gold tunic, Mirror Sulu) tenatively "Live Long and Prosper" will be the contest you spell out, the rare card MIGHT be V, unless they change it. Save your pennies people, it's gonna be a bumpy ride! A sound chip card...the one I heard is Kirk doing the Space, final frontier speech. Excuse me, but if this pans out to be true, I will surely DIE!!!!! Online consignment Auctionne for Star Trek collectibles ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Kurt Grossman Date: 06 Feb 1998 01:17:42 -0500 Hi, I am selling my HG12 holograms for 75 dollars for now + shipping. I have 2 singles of the "Q" hologram. I didn't include all of my Season Six cards in my posting because I was planning to sell them back to a card dealer who I bought 12 boxes for the exorbitant price of 59 dollars each. This is the reason for the high price. Unfortunately I also purchased one of these HG12 for $135 dollars separately over the internet. I am considering selling my set of the Holograms from Seasons One thru Six also, reluctantly. I got most of them relatively easily thru a great dealer on Long Island, NY called Never Enough Cards in the Port Jefferson area. I dont know precisely what the set should go for but I would like $900 for the set. Its either that or my trying to sell my precious rare "modern" comics. (EX: Megaton 1-7, Star Reach 1-15, 2 sets of Megaton Man 1-10 (1984), 2 sets of Ronin, all the limited Creed comics, the Kirby New Gods 1-11, Image comics etc... but I haven't found any comic internet trading places yet. Does anybody know about such a place. I would like to sell following mint comics: The Series Finale (TNG), Generations Movie comic, and two copies of Marvels Voyager #1 but I don't know what their currently worth until I check Overstreets book. Hope I dont offend anyone but I have some Sex Trek comics for sale for 50 dollars + shipping which are kind of unique. They are black and white inside, published by Friendly Comics on Long Island and they came out in 1992: Sex Trek: The Next Infiltration #1,#2, #3 Sex Trek: To Boldly Go...#1,#2,#3 Sex Trek #2, #3 Vince Maiocco To: 'Kurt Grossman' >Anyone seeking Season 6 cards, I have 20 sets + 4 sets of chase "puffy" >cards, and a set of the holograms (HG11, HG12). >Hi, Kurt. What are you asking for the two Season 6 Holograms? >LLAP Hi Vince, I would like to sell my set of the two spare HG11/HG12 pair for 160+ shipping. I don't know anywhere that HG11 is available elsewhere and I realize this is not what a dealer would likely pay for the two cards. It took me a long time to locate them. Kurt From: J!m Hepworth To: Kurt Grossman >Hi Kurt, >I think we've traded or something in the past as your name sounds real >familiar, but I can't place it. > I have been hoping for a trade of some sort but have not been that >lucky so far. I'm about ready to break down and buy it, but thought I'd >ask if there is anything you are searching for first. J!m, I e-mailed every Star Trek Web site first in my search for the "Q" hologram and then I received alot of offers from people when I tried to sell the hologram to some of the same people, who wanted them as trade. I would rather wait before I trade my HG12 cards in order to see if the mail order place which I purchased the boxes from will make a generous offer for the whole bunch (most of what I got for over $780 dollars after tax.) Mike (the man I am dealing with) has been making me wait over a month an a half so it might be a long wait. Since you are also a dealer maybe you could help, I am just hoping to recover part of the money. I would be very interested in trading 19 sets of Season Six cards, 3 sets of Season One, 3 sets of Season Two, along with the 4 foil embossed Season Six sets, 12 SM2 and 1 SM1. I haven't checked the internet yet but I need IMAGE Universe chase cards #i4, and #c4, The Maxx (1993) chase card #3, and #5, Extreeme Studios Yougblood "Wiggly" cards (I have W1-W5) there is another set of chase cards from the Youngblood cards but I don't know their titles. I have opted to sit out on the TOS series One. And I dont know what else I would want as far as Star Trek cards but I was planning on collecting the Season Seven cards especially if I still own Season 1-6 including the holograms and I have some of the Star Trek Master Series cards. Well thats it and I enjoy reading the Star Trek trading news alot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Kirk and Jen Murray" Subject: Re: (trekchat) Oregon Trek Lottery tickets Date: 06 Feb 1998 12:26:00 -0500 Have you received my payment? I sent in a bunch of entries, too. Also, do you have an idea on the retail value of the more common cards in the TOS SEason 1 set? Ratios and original box prices for this set are so wierd, I don't want to guess. (Usually a 58 card subset would be worth maybe $.25/card, but I suspect these will be more like $1-2 each.) Any help you provide would be appreciated. C. Curtis Engel http://www.open.org/curtis/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Kurt Grossman Date: 06 Feb 1998 22:32:08 -0500 In 1977 I had latex ears even then designed at the same place Spocks' ears were manufactured. Back then at 14 years old I would go to the Federation Trading Post in NYC where I purchased 30 slides of the Original Show including the opening Star Trek logo of the Ship in space; the Muguta; The Keepers, the Green lady, the team beaming to the planet and the Phaser Gun from the pilot; Commander Pike from the Menagerie the Klingons from Day of the Dove on the planet; The horta, and another with Spock mind melding with it; the Andorian from Journey to Babel; Balok and a slide of the enterprise fling through orange reddish bubbles and a slide of a planet made of globes of light; Spock and his old love from This Side of Paradise; Two pictures of The Alternate Universe Spock; Kirk and Spock stealing clothes from a peice of the action and Spock holding a gun on the lead mobster; Amok Time Slides: One of Spocks wife, One of Spock with his axe weapon; The Enterprise surrounded by 3 Klingon ships (cant recall), The Doomsday Machine head on; A Tholien ship, The Enterprise pendant on the flame of a candle, the Enterprise flying through an red Amoeba, the Enterprise heading head on towards an asteroid, Kirk in the cargo bay catching tribbles on the station, and the Gorn. Well I still have the slides and was wondering if they are worth anything. They are a little dusty, I cleaned them about six months ago but they got dusty because I didn't have anything to hold them. They have no writing other than each has a number. I know they are legal but have no proof not even a receipt. Oh, the numbers are 12, 110, 92, 22, 93, 145, 76, 49, 2, 69, 29, 38, 146, 42, 08, 133, 64, 54, 129, 48, 140, 125, 36, 26, 25, 07, 11, 94, 91, 37. My Star Trek trivia is extreemely dusty but I was just hoping for some insight on these slides. A couple I found in the darkroom arent in perfect focus (examples: Klingons from Day of the Dove) so they probably arent film cells. Most are professional quality slides. They might not be uncommon but I would never find out unless I ask. If I can sell them Lynns Auction would probably be the place I would try, only if they are valuble that is. J!m, thanks for the message. Also I will take you up on the TOS offer for the HG12 card. Just email me directly or post your address so I know where to send it to and its a done deal. I think your conclusion is probably correct, but I ate the contents of AT LEAST 6 wrappers - two of which were Picards - and I don't recall seeing a Cochrane. I also don't recall seeing a Vulcan, but then I only ate one Troi. Therefore, I don't believe that a given wrapper always hid the same candy image. I also don't believe I'll ever be able to find a stranger conversation being conducted all across the country. I think there is a possibility that she may be abusing drugs (or was at that time) and simply couldn't pull her own weight on the show. By sheer coincidence, just before it bacame poubklic knowlege that she was leaving, I happened to attend a con where Ethan Phillips (Neelix) was appearing. If tou've never seen him on stage, he's a riot. He does very old stand-up gags, almost Vaudeville. So corny, you gotta laugh at his nerve, if nothing else. But he switches between that and answering questions so abruptly you could get whiplash. Anyway, he was taking questions/comments from the audience and I commented that I was sorry to see Kes and Neelix break up because I really liked the romantic way they relatd to one another. Not at all common for regular Trek characters who appear regularly or even semi-regularly. He had no real response, but got rather quiet and just thanked me for my opinion. Even at the time, I thought hisreacrtion was covering something, but, of course, had no idea what. I think he already knew Jen Lein was leaving the cast, but wasn't allowed to say anything. Date: 26 Feb 1998 21:57:28 -0500 I know that I ate a lot of chocolate. Probably 12 bars or so. However, as to a correlation between candy and wrapper. I don't think that there is one. I know that I saw most of the images that Vince listed, plus Zephram and the Vulcan. The thing here is, our stores only got the even numbered candies. I never got any of the candy from the odd numbered ones, and I still saw all of those images (I just got the other #s from other people in other cities, etc.). The main source is Playmates which is now particularly targetting the collector. Yes, their products are good. But they are not outstanding. The recent Edith Keeler figure was one of the worst I have ever seen. But if people want quality, why is there so little interest in the more exclusive collectables? Here in the UK, a company called Kevin Francis is making Toby Jugs which are a similar thing. They are limited in some cases to only 350 each and the quality is very high - the Borg is a superb figure. Similarly the Paramount figurines are of a much higher quality than anything I have seen from Playmates. I have collected loads of Playmates stuff but am cutting down now because of lack of room and also because I can get much better quality in lower numbers elsewhere. I genuinely don't understand though why these other products are not more popular? What sparks that collectible, gotta have fever. Heck, I *think* I collect cards, but there is this MISC for all those coool things that catch my eyes, but I guess the quantity of an item doesn't affect me as much as quality, if it is good, I want it, but I can't tell you in advance what will interest me. Not sure any of this is an answer to the question, not sure there is an answer....
