a) occasional topic drift is proof of real life out there on the
Yello list, b) it's a good job you don't sysop Underworld's Dirtylist

I think that we have very good FAQ already.
- - there is Jonas FAQ site...
- - lots of different kinds of Yello discographies...
- - many very well maintained Yello related home pages...
- - Yello Universe...
- - Yello's official homebase...
- - and the most important... Lazlo's mailing list archives...
I think that there we have almost all "normal information"! :-)
IMHO that all new members should read mailing list archives at first, if
there is no answers then is better ask more questions.

Why not let FAQ's be F A ?
It's not like we are innnundated with people asking, "What is meant by

Here's the scenario, I introduce you to a new friend, your hand him your bio

Two people from the "original crew" continued... "A secret wish" came
out in 1985, I believe, "1234" came in 1990. Susanne Freytag shared the
singing with Betsi Miller and Claudia Bruecken went on to a, in my
opinion, rather succesful solo-album. Mertens stayed with Propaganda &
Doerper went on to Die Krupps, BUT helped writing some of the songs for
"1234"...
>Which is the popular favorite of YELLO fans?
Probably the earlier one "A secret wish". Get it, it was "considered"
ahead of its time, very good easy listening as well as some incredible
programming, ranging from jazz to "serious" pop, all neatly produced
with the help of Mr. Trevor Horn. Once you have gotten hooked to "A
secret wish", you may very well end up liking the follow up "1234",
although they progressed further into the pop-domain (which I think was
done close to perfection!). "1234" even features the likes of Howard
Jones, William Orbit, Pino Palladino, Tessa Niles, all recognized
musicians/producers. Another excellent instrumental progamming-job, in
the spirit of Yello, is track 7 "Ministry of fear" (on "1234")
I love Propaganda & Yello.

It is mentioned in MP3INDEX.HTM. They are How How samples.
For another set of samples look at Yello soundstations (remember dig
those extra samples from the disk directory directly). Or get them

They stopped (or they must have become very unpopular).
Sometimes we welcome the demise of a group (like we will with the spice
girls).
Sometimes quality is not enough to keep people going.
WARNING!!! As posted from a previous interview, we should already be on the

It is very quiet around this topic. Still, Dieter did say the movie should

Well, I'm not quite sure I'd like earing this. I mean, "A Secret Wish"
sounds more or less "cold", I could say crude. Maybe cause of their German
source they are more "angular" by comparison with Yello who are more, IMHO,
"colored" and "warm".

This talk is boring me. The sysop commented on Rocket's typing, a few of us
thought that was out of line. 'Nuff said. I don't think this should go on
forever. I jumped on the Yello list to learn about Yello, not what people think
of Rocket's typing styles. I suppose I'll be criticized for this, pretty sick
and immature in my opinion.
My expierence first started about a little over a year ago, when Rocket left me
ZEBRA after a car audio install. I had a semi-system (plenty horrible with (2)
12's doin' mid-bass from hell!) in my car at the time. ZEBRA rocked to say the
least. I then have bought or borrowed: Zebra, Baby, One Second, Stella, Flag,
Pocket Universe, ClaroQueSi (haven't really listened to it yet, just borrowed
it), and Solid Pleasure. I like Yello's sense of instrumentation, electronic or
not, it is very well done and the recordings are excellent! I don't listen much
to the lyrics, I let the music set the emotion trying to be dispersed. I also
like to listen to a few others that Rocket got me into. Deep Forest, Mars
Lasar, Celine Dion (not from Rocket, but not a bad album - the latest), good
somewhat classics like the Cars, Journey, and Fleetwood Mac. I just want to
give a disclaimer for Rocket in saying that Shania Twain's new album rocks and
that Rocket had absolutely no influence. He would kill me if I alluded to him
liking country in any way. ;)
Anyway, what else do you all listen to? I'll get the FTP server of Rocket's up
for temp usage. (His FTP and Admin / My location has the T-1) My Mp3Server was
needing some software upgrades Wednesday and it didn't go so good. 2nite I'd
like to get a temp uploads DIR going. So do check back later 2nite. Upload
some Propaganda or whatever else you are interested in. Don't knock me down
because of Shania Twain however, please!

Subject: (yello) Yelllooooooooooo....
Hiya. My name is Mathias af Jochnick, I'm new to this list, and as it was
said somewhere to type an introduction email, I do!
I'm 24(6 days ago!) and Swedish, but for the moment living with my
girlfriend in Copenhagen, Denmark, studying Computer Science.
(And missing Mom!)
I'm not very technically orientated when it comes to music, I just love to
listen to it. I'm very interrested in music though, and I spend way too
much money on CD's...
I got into Yello when the Rubberbandman single was released. I had heard
some of their songs before, but the weird video and cool sound made me buy
Baby, and I've been totally hooked since.
What I love about Yello is their way of making it sound like they have
been working with EACH little tiny sample and sound for WeekS in each
song, where to put it and and when, and what. I've never heard music that
sound so rich, full, warm and above all, finished and complete.
I've got most of their albums. I do think that Pocket Universe was a
little bit of a disappointment. My favourites are Zebra and Baby, my
favourite songs are Drive\Driven, Blender, Nighttrain, Suite909,
Moon on Ice, Capri Calling, 3:rd of June, just to name a few.
This something to start with. I hope the next week will bring
more interesting topics of discussion than the last few days.
yours, Mathias (Also a C64-freak! Sid rules!)

Subject: (yello) Where to buy Yello
After listening to those MP3's from the *great* FTP site, I'm starting =
to realize that I need to expand my collection of the 12 "regular" Yello =
albums + the (lousy) Jingle Bells single, to include some of those =
singles from the FTP site.=20
My problem is that I really can't find much besides from the standard =
CD's in Norwegian record shops (new that is), and even when I checked =
some of these online CD stores, I wasn't quite able to find the really =
big selection of Yello stuff (again, besides from the 12 regular =
albums). I found (and ordered) a couple of singles + a CD at =
skivhugget.se, but that's about it.
Does anyone have a place for me to start looking for, let's say, Yello =
singles on the Internet? In addition to singles, I have also been trying =
to find the double-CD "Hands on Yello - the updates" album without any =
luck. Is this available somewhere at an online store?
Regards,
Per-Stian

In Sweden we have a new Internet-shop calles Boxman
http://www.boxman.se that carries (among almost everything else) Yellos
albums. I don't know if it's possible to order from abroad (probably
not since it's only in Swedish at the moment) but maybe some kind Swede
on the list can help you. 8,10 kronor (kr) is about 1 $, and 13 kronor
is 1 =A3.
