It used to be that in order to publish a web page you had to know how to write HTML. This is no longer the case. There are many software programs available that will allow even the most novice user to build a great looking website.
Web authoring tools and HTML editors range from simple text editors to high-powered graphical authoring tools. There is a whole slew of software programs available online. Tucows (http://www.tucows.com) is a good resource for finding freeware and shareware titles that you can use to build your web site. Just do a search for "HTML editors" and you will find a wide variety to choose from. Another excellent source for free, shareware and commercial programs is VersionTracker.com. Again, search for "HTML editor" to view a list of currently available software. If you want to start with the basics and learn HTML you can do a simple Google search on "HTML help" and find all the information you need to begin writing your web page.
If you don't mind spending some money on a more professional program, Dream Weaver by Macromedia is what many web designers prefer to use. Go Live by Adobe is another good option.
