Alexandre Dumas began writing to support his life-style in Paris. His
first successful novel was La Dame Aux Camelias, based on the life of
the infamous courtesan, Marie Duplessis.
Alexandre Dumas is best known for his D'Artagnan Romances, including the
books The Three Musketeers and The Man in the Iron Mask. Dumas, a
student of history, wrote several historical fictions as well as
historical essays. He wrote the eight volumes in his Celebrated Crimes
series, comprising eighteen true crime stories. Including the real Man
in the Iron Mask, the famous crimes of the Borgias, and many more
fascinating tales from history.
