Alexandre Dumas
The works attributed to Alexandre Dumas are actual by two people by two people - a father and son - general refered to as p pictures of the two are actually Dumas p name. This Alexandre Dumas was of Frenech and Haitian parentage.

Alexandre Dumas, p of assistants. His collected works of 1860-1884 ran 227 volumes.

P the books The Three Musketeers and The Man in the Iron Mask. Dumas, a student of history, wrote several historical fictions as well as historical essays.

His Celebrated Crimes Series is a collection of historical essays on some of the most fantastic crimes in history.

Alexandre Dumas, fils 1824-1895, was a member of the French Academy. He most famous work by far was La dame aux cam the life of the Paris courtesan, Marie Duplessis. Writen in 1848, Fils dramatized the work and and 1852 it was a success. This formed the basis for Giuseppe Verdi's opera La traviata.

In 1853 the play Camille debuted in New York with a version more faithful to the original appearing three years later. This main role known as the lady of the camellias was one of the most noted roles of Eleanora Duse and Sarah Bernhardt.

Greta Garbo did the main role in the 1930s on film. This is only one of many film adaptations of the work. The latest movie inspired by the work is Moulin Rouge with Nicole Kidman.
