Tail: Moose Hock Hair
Shell/Wing: Light Elk Hair
Body: Wine Floss
Hackle: Brown

1. Tie on the Moose Hock for a tail about a shank length. Cut the butt ends.
2. Cut a small bunch of elk for the shell and stack it so the black tips are all in one band. It may take a bit of practice to get the right amount (15-20 hairs is about right). Tie on the shell over the tail and leave it about 1/8" longer than than the tail. Use only a few wraps to tie the shell on at this point. Cut the butt ends and wrap tightly so the the tail and shell won't turn over to the side of the hook. Wrap the thread enough that loose butt ends of the elk hair are bound down.
3. Tie on the floss and wrap a pretty full body about half way up the shank. The tail and shell will have added a bit of bulk already. Tie off and cut.
4. With you right hand, grab the tail and shell and pull up. Slowly let the tail hair trickle out of the bunch you are holding until you have only the shell in your fingers. This is the quickest and easiest way to seperate the tail and shell hair. Pull the shell over the floss body and use 2 tight wraps over the hair at the same point that you finished the body off. The hair tips may flair just a bit (this helps me in seperating the wings).
5. Grab the hair tips and stand them upright. Put a 3-4 wraps in front of them right at the base to help keep them up. Seperate the hair into two bunches and put a few wraps around each to keep them seperated.
6. Tie on the hackle and put 3 wraps behind the wings and 3 in front (or whatever looks good to you) and tie off and clip.
7. Whip finish with 5-6 wraps. (this eliminates the need for head cement).

Delta Wing Hemingway Caddis

Hook: Dry fly 14-20, I use #1100 Daiichi oversized eye;-)
Thread: Danville 8/0, black/olive
Body: Olive antron(mix)or( olive turkey Biots )
Rib: Dun 1 size to small
Under Wing: Lemon wood duck (dyed mallard flank)
Wing: Gray wing feather end rounded
Hackle: Dun

Directions:
1. Wrap shank with thread as per most flies. Tie in the Smaller of the Dun hackles at the bend of the hook.
2. Dub a standard caddis body towards the eye (aprox. 2/3 of the shank.
3. Wrap the hackle palmer style around the doubed body (sparse for a emerger style).
4. Tie in the under wing then tie the gray wing back over the body. Split the wing down the middle and flare out in a delta wing style.
5. Tie in the larger of the Dun Hackles.
6. Dub the section between the wings and the eye (you are supposed to use peacock herl but dubbing works better for smaller patterns).
7. Wrap the hackle sparse and tie off then whip finish. To change the pattern you can alter the dubbing color and the hackle i.e. brown or Grizzly to match a different hatch.
