I arrived at the SFO Airport at 700p and quickly looked around for my traveling partners from the Project Vietnam medical team whom I had never met. I had talked to the one member, Ann Nguyen from University of California-San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center several times before and she would be the easiest to spot. She was bringing two huge boxes with donated glasses to take to Vietnam. She soon showed up as well as Dr Stan Lowenberg (otolaryngology doctor from the Bay Area), Dr Erika Drazan (pediatric resident from UCSF Medical Center) and Dr Chris Stewart (from the UCSF Medical Center).

We all checked in and were soon on our way leaving at 1100p night for an overnight flight from SFO to Hong Kong International where we would make the connection to Hanoi on Saturday morning (skipped Friday because of the International Date Line crossing).
