| March 31 (Saturday) | ·Entire medical team goes to Tam Doa mountain ·Final night with banquet dinner for medical team |
We arrive back in Hanoi at 500am and go to the hotel where the rest of the medical team is still sleeping. The medical work is now done and the entire team goes on a day tour to the Tam Dao Mountains north of Hanoi. We enjoy the beauty o
f the countryside, which mostly is a farming economy.
We arrive at the Tam Dao Mountains and drive up the steep roads to the tallest mountain. It becomes cooler and is surrounded by fog or clouds. Near the top, the minibus is parked and some of the group hikes to the top going over some 1600 steps. At the top the hiking team members encounter a group of friendly Vietnamese college students and everybody exchanges picture taking. While on the mountain we hike to a waterfall. The mountain is famous for being a resort area. The French used the mountain as a place to escape the heat of Hanoi.
After arriving back in Hanoi a banquet dinner was held for all the Project Vietnam volunteers and special guests from the Hanoi medical community. Dr Chinh Le, the retired infectious disease doctor, on a volunteer six-month assignment in Vietnam, provided some entertainment playing his guitar and singing both American and Vietnamese folks songs.
