Arian Christian
A Christian variant put forth by Arius of Alexandria early in the 4th century. The Council of Nicea (325 AD) denounced Arius. However, Constantine himself received last rites from the great champion of Arianism, Eusebius of Nicomedia, in 337 AD.Twists and turns of Church politics lead to the eventual downfall of Arianism under Theodosius I, and contributed to the East-West divide. Through the efforts of Ulfila the Visigoth (311-383), this creed spread though much of the Gothic population.
