More Germans. These of course go on to found a great empire based on cheese and wine. Here the Ripuarian, Salian, and Chatti tribes are grouped together. These were part of the 3rd C assault on the Gallic frontier, and in the 3rd C managed to take some territory from the Empire.Alternately allied to, and fighting with, the Romans, they took advantage of general chaos in Gaul to relocate to that upscale address. This proved to be a prescient move, and the neighborhood eventually recovered.
