Lords of the Earth, Campaign 13
Hephthalite Empire
These rather obscure peoples are most likely a Mongol ruling tribe within a larger federation which irrupted from the Altai along the Silk Road. By the time of this campaign, they are pressing hard upon the Kidarite dynasts of the Kushan, a Chionite remnant. Nominally vassals of the Juan-Juan, the Hephthalites had spread to create their own powerful regime to the West, with a greater future open before them.Virulently anti-Buddhist, they would pass no opportunity of "smiting" stupas, monasteries, and entire cities in their path.
