Lakhmid Arab Kingdom
This kingdom was a loose federation of tribes acting as vassals to the Sasanian Persian Empire. The Lakhmids were dihqans, yet maintained independence, trading and raiding their Arab neighbors while holding them from the Persian desert frontier.Supplies from the Iranian realm, loaned asvaran cavalry, and hired mercenaries helped to keep the Lakhmids a major force in the Arab world. Their capitol, al-Hira, was originally a military camp (Syriac hirta) and is the traditionally-claimed source of Arabic script.
