Visigoths
More Goths. Not actually termed Visigoths per se in this period, they were smacked by the Huns in 376 and fled old Dacia before them. With other barbarians managed to crush a Roman army at Adrianople two years later. Some years later they embraced Arian Christianity.Lead by Alaric, they became essentially a mercenary force for first the Eastern, then the Western, Romans. Seeking a legitimate place within the Empire, they travelled about the Balkans at the behest of their Roman suppliers, but are now at loose ends and in need of a home. Once an invader, they are now deeply enmeshed in Roman politics.
Later founded Visigothic Spain and other realms.
