Ever wonder how they
harvest this stuff? The pictures below were taken recently while
harvesting burls in the Goldfield region of West Australia. Take
special note of the size of the trees and the arid environment.
Regeneration of these burls and trees is a very slow process...the
cutters may not be able to visit these trees again in your lifetime! But
the common thread is that burl collectors in Australia are not in any
way harming the environment! Page

 These
pics are from the Goldfield region of Western Australia.
This is what we in the US call basal burl. Its red morrel.
Take note of the arid climate and size of these trees!!

Nice little red morrel turning
burls from the Goldfields. Its hard to believe these trees
are alive!!
|
Typical Goldfield burls. again
some red morrel. ..somewhat elongated, excellent
"carvers".

 A
likely looking tree...see the next pic to see them cut off...the
tree (tough sucker) will press on!

Here we are a short time later 4
beautiful Concinna burls ready to be washed and shipped to
Utah!
|
 Another
one, Horistes, soon to part company with the
tree.
