Windows is not saving my Internet password and the box to save is grayed out.

Issue:

Windows is not saving my Internet password and the box to save is grayed out.

Cause:

Network or other setting is not setup or enabled when it should be.

Solution:

File and print sharing for Microsoft Networks is not installed.

  1. Click Start / Settings / Control Panel / double-click on Network

  2. Click Add / click Service

  3. Select Microsoft / Select File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks and click ok.

  4. Reboot computer and issue should be resolved.

If the above recommendation does not resolve your issue and when booting up the computer it prompts you for a password, it is likely that the password is not saved because the user which setup the Internet is not logging into the computer or when prompted for the password you press Esc.

If you do not log onto a Network and wish for this prompt to be disabled please refer to document CH000131.
