Active Desktop

An operating system software feature that was first introduced in Microsoft Windows 98, Active Desktop enables a user to use their desktop as a web page, enabling a user to get content from the Internet and display it on their desktop. Users who want to view the latest news, stock quotes, comic, etc... but don't want to open a browser each time to view the content may find this feature useful.

  • Information about enabling / disabling active desktop can be found on document CH000593.
