| AutoComplete
is a feature found in various software
programs that helps the user complete typing by completing text that
has already been typed in the same area before.
An example of this feature can be found in Microsoft
Internet Explorer browser. When typing an
Internet address that has already
been visited, the user will see the completed versions of the typed text
below and can simply press the down arrow
key and select that text without
having to finish typing.
In addition to AutoComplete giving a user a list to select from
like the example listed above other programs have "inline
AutoComplete" which selects the best possible match and
highlights the text, if the user continues to type the suggestions
will change and if a match is found the user can simply press enter.
A good example of inline AutoComplete can be seen on Google
Suggest.
