Balloon

Also known as a tooltip, a balloon is a brief message that indicates what would occur if they were to click on that icon/button. This is found on most new programs as users to quickly learn what each button or dropdown menu does. If you are unable to get a button to display a balloon, it is likely that the program does not support this feature.

Below is an example of what a balloon tip looks like in Microsoft Windows when a user places their mouse over the Start button. As can be seen by the example if the user was unfamiliar with Windows they would know the start button is a clickable button that enables them to navigate through Windows. In this example if you also place your mouse over this picture it will also give you an example of balloon text in your browser window.
