Running the calculator
Microsoft Windows users
Users running Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT
4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and above can access the Windows
calculator by following either of the below steps.
- Click Start, Programs, and then Accessories
- Click Calculator
or
- Click Start and then Run
- Type: calc
and pressing enter.
Windows Calculator Tips:
Tip 1: By default Microsoft Windows Calculator is set to be
displayed in basic mode, this can be changed by opening
Calculator and clicking View and choosing Scientific.
Scientific mode gives you a lot more options and abilities.
Tip 2: By default digit grouping is disabled. Enabling this
feature will cause your long numbers to have commas. For
example, instead of 10000000 it would display 10,000,000. To
enable this feature click View and select Digit grouping.
Linux users
Users running Linux / Unix can run the
bc
command or dc command to open the calculator.
