Term used to describe a link pointing to any section of a web
page that is not the home page.
For example, if someone was to link to this dictionary definition
web page instead of linking to Computer Hope's main page, that
would be considered a deep link.
Some companies or individuals request or prohibit a user from
creating deep links to their web page because they believe a
user may be confused by who is providing the information and/or
because it cuts the amount of advertising displayed to the
visitor while they are visiting a site.
