Optical disc

An optical disc or optical disk is any type of disc that is read by light. Examples of optical discs are CDs and DVDs and examples of optical disc drives are CD-ROM and DVD drives. Drives such as a CD-R drive that not only read but write information to discs are known as magneto-optic (MO).
