THE SURVEY - An Opinion Research Software Tool for the Personal
Computer
is designed to facilitate the entire process of doing attitude research.
It has been shown to be useful to the Human Resource organization in a
company for doing employee attitude surveys or training feedback. In a Marketing
organization it can facilitate prospect research, get customer feedback, or
create "what-if" sampling to give management the information they need to
successfully keep the company on track.
The main concepts for the product:
1. Helps you create a questionnaire in a structured environment; it will
actually produce a document if you wish to send them out to your clients.
2. Efficiently helps you reenter the data when they are returned. If you
desire, you can skip the paper and interview them directly into the computer
(skip patterns can facilitate this process) or if you have a high-tech
environment, you can send self-administered floppy disks to your clients and
then merge them automatically into a master file when they are returned.
3. Provides various reporting options that in appearance are like the
questionnaire with counts, percents, totals, averages, standard deviation,
confidence factors and when comparing two groups or cross tabbing the
demographics provides statistical indicators (T-tests, Pierson-r, ChiSq).
4. The results can also be exported in standard ASCII formats to interface
automatically with Word Processing or Spreadsheets for further presentation
options.
5. The "how to book" will give you good hints on questionnaire design and
methodology, and the step-by-step tutorial will get you up and running
within a couple of hours.
6. The department or workgroup license is $495 or a site license is $1295.

An automated brochure discussing the features of each aspect of the
product; questionnaires, data entry, reports (with examples) and how to
order. It also has an actual self-administered data entry demo similar
to that which would appear if you were to send a floppy
disk to your clients as a survey. You will need
PKUNZIP to uncompress the file.

Instructions: on your DOS machine make a directory MD \SURVEY
then CD \SURVEY then download the SURVEY.ZIP and PKUNZIP.EXE files
into the \SURVEY directory. Next PKUNZIP SURVEY
Finally print out the tutorial.doc by executing the tutorial.bat or
by importing it into your word processor. It will give you instructions
on how to create a questionnaire, do some data entry, and print out
statistical reports. It takes about an hour to do the keystroke by
keystroke tutorial.
