There is a book: "How to Build and Furnish a Log Cabin" by W. Ben Hunt
(1888-1970), ISBN 0-02-557440-X.  I have a copy and it appears to employ
rather old tecniques in cabin construction.  Briefly, the book covers:
tools,foundations and fireplaces, walls, logs and other materilas, roofs,
floors, ceilings, lighting and heating, etc., etc.

I have found it most informative and suspect that the author is passing on
many time tested methods in construction.  It sold (a while back) for $8.95.
