If we are suppose to be back in the 17, 18, or 19 century then the 
stuff would be new. Also kilt pins would not be period until the 1830's 
and then mainly for the Highland reginments. Unless you mean the 
shoulder bodkin, and the pentangualar brooch was not used by men except 
to hold the cockade.  I have several years of research on highland 
dress.  To age though you can handle it as suggested and then expose it 
to  sulfur gas of any sort and it will darken also.
