Yes - I know one.  His name is Charles Streeper and he has been making a
living trapping for many years.  He considers society like a big fire-next
to it is warm-in it hurts.  He told me he has proved twice that you can
live on a hundred dollars a year(when fur prices hit rock bottom).  He buys
a half dozen flannel shirts each fall from Goodwill and discards them in
the summer.  He writes some articles for money, but mainly lives off
trapping.  Doesn't even own a home as far as I know and mostly stays in the
mountains around Fort Bridger in Wyoming.  He is about 54 now and once took
a ride from there to the Atlantic, back to the Pacific and then back to the
mountains.  Took about 3 years.  I talked to him for several hours in Dodge
City when he was on that ride and you will never meet a nicer guy.  Didn't
hear him say one cuss word and didn't know where or what Corpus Cristy,
Texas was.  If you ever get a chance to meet him, take some time to talk to
him.
