MtMan-List: .520 Moulds
Hi Don,
Glad the .520's worked out for you.
When I went looking for a .520 mould,
I wanted a Lyman but found a single
cavity Lee mould. It was cheap price-wise
but turned out a very nice ball. That was
twenty years ago and it still turns out a
nice ball....so much for Lee being cheap!
Look in any of the Muzzleloading magazines
and you'll find Lee and Lyman's address.
order their catalogs (free) and you'll find
all the different sizes they make along with
their prices. As for browned barrels, I agree,
they are far more better looking than blue. But
don't pass up a deal on a gun because it's blue.
You can turn that around in just a few hours by
using blue remover, a torch and a bottle of Plum
brown. Strip the blue wipe clen with alcohol, heat
barrel starting at one end and apply browning solution
as you go. Some metals brown easier than others but
most will only need three application using this method.
Rust method browning is nice too...but I don't have the
patience to rust brown barrels. I built the Lyman Plains
rifle kit a few years ago and the browning is still good.
