GEDCOM Utility program for FAMILY TIES
FAMILY TIES, as a DOS
based program, has come to the end of it's useful life.
GEDCOM export utility: Family Ties users can now
export their data to a GEDCOM formatted
file. This can be used to transfer data to other genealogy programs.
Download the file
FGEDCOM3.EXE to a temp sub directory, run it
to extract the GEDCOM program files, and
read the file GEDCOM.TXT. (This is Version 3 - Y2K
fix to FGEDCOM2.EXE)
This utility REQUIRES a user registration code - unregistered users
should register and obtain
their own user code. GEDCOM.TXT explains what to do if you do not have
a user code.
I have obtained a copy of a Windows based genealogy program called LEGACY.
This has
99% of the ideas I had developed for the next major rewrite of FAMILY
TIES and so I am
recommending that users of FAMILY TIES take a serious look at this
program. LEGACY
follows the same methods of adding individuals as FT and has all the
bells and whistles you could
ever need. A FREE copy of LEGACY
can be downloaded below.. It installs without any
problems (Uninstall provided) and you have full functionality. You can
also import a GEDCOM
file and everything works.
LEGACY is one of the
FINEST genealogy programs I have
seen. It is great for the novice (both computer and genealogy wise)
but has all the sophistication that an expert would expect.
