Death Joseph fell down the hold of a ship and died immediately. Taken from a copy of a letter sent to Mrs. M. Dewsnup. It was copied in pencil by Nephi ( I recognised my father's handwriting - M.H.W.) and is stained, tattered and very difficult to read.
