• NEW! You can have your own domain name so that when people type www.yourcompany.com in their web browser client, your home page here in Gastown is called up! This URL redirection feature is available through our association with SmartLink.net for US$60 per year, plus US$20 in the first year to handle the Domain Name application process.

• You can also have e-mail addresses for anything@yourcompany.com which automatically forward to the address of your choice! This option is available through our association with SmartLink.net for US$60 per year (in addition to the URL redirection service above).

• And you can set up an e-mail autoresponder like info@yourcompany.com which instantly responds to any message sent to it by replying with the contents of a file in your Gastown account (perfect for current price lists and calendar of event notices)! Test one out by sending a message with ANY subject or body text to retrieve the latest Gastown prices and features from the Gastown Infobot <info@gastown.com>. Since this option requires that all of the e-mail addressed to anything@yourcompany.com be filtered through the Gastown mailer system, there is a US$20 charge for each 6 months of service.

  
  

• For a more budget-conscious solution, consider just shortening your URL to http://www.gastown.com/yourcompany (avoids the hard-to-explain tilde ~) by simply asking The Mayor to set it up for you (it's included in your setup fee)! You can also have an e-mail address of yourcompany@gastown.com which forwards to one or more designated addresses. There is no additional charge this feature if you are paying for at least 1 MB of extra disk space.

  
  

How to establish your domain name

• Search the InterNIC database to ensure that your preferred name hasn't been taken yet.

• Go to SmartLink.net's fill-out order form and submit the relevant information. In the field which asks for your Credit Card Number, type BILL ME.

• Wait a week, then send a personal e-mail message to the Domain Name Administrator, Joseph McDonald <dnsmaster@smartlink.net> and tell him the full URL of your home page in Gastown that you would like to have connected to www.yourcompany.com.

• When the invoice arrives in the mail and your domain is activated, send the appropriate fees to the InterNIC (US$100 for the first two years) and to SmartDocs ($140 for the first year).

• If you would like an auto-responder, send an e-mail to The Mayor <mayor@gastown.com> describing the specific e-mail addresses you would like to have forwarded to you, and specify the filenames in your account directory which are to be retrieved when mail arrives for info@yourcompany.com.
